Nollywood actress and filmmaker Ruth Kadiri has opened up about the personal fears that pushed her to keep her marriage away from public view, especially in its early days.
The actress, who is also a mother of two, spoke candidly during a recent appearance on the Dear Ife podcast, where she addressed years of curiosity surrounding her private relationship.
According to her, the decision wasn't about secrecy for its own sake but stemmed from genuine anxiety about whether the union would last.
Kadiri admitted that thoughts of uncertainty weighed heavily on her before she settled down.
She described grappling with questions about whether committing to marriage might eventually fall apart, which made her hesitant to share the milestone publicly.
She noted that her husband understood her position and never pushed her to do otherwise.
Beyond the fear of failure, the actress said she simply wanted to avoid the kind of public scrutiny and speculation that often trails celebrity relationships.
To keep things low-key, the couple settled on a small guest list of just 50 people for their wedding, split evenly between both families. She revealed that she and her husband each handpicked 25 guests, keeping the ceremony intimate and controlled.
Reflecting further, Kadiri mentioned that had circumstances been different, particularly if she lived outside Nigeria, she might have opted for an even simpler registry wedding devoid of any fanfare.
The actress tied the knot with her husband, identified as Mr Ezerika, in a quiet ceremony held around November 2018.
The union, which she shielded from public attention for a while, has since produced two daughters. Their first child arrived in August 2019, followed by a second daughter in July 2022.
Kadiri remains one of Nollywood's most prolific figures, known for both her acting career and her work behind the camera as a producer.
Despite her visibility in the industry, she has consistently maintained a firm boundary between her professional life and her family affairs, only recently beginning to open up about aspects of her marriage and motherhood journey.
Her latest revelation adds to a growing trend of Nigerian celebrities using podcast platforms to share previously guarded details about their personal lives, offering fans a rare and more intimate glimpse into experiences they once kept firmly under wraps.
