What was meant to be a simple summer class experience turned into an unexpected surprise for Mcedopikin after his children came home with several gifts from the school.
Mcedopikin explained that he is considering moving his children to a new school and decided to give the institution a trial of sorts by enrolling them in its summer programme this month. The plan was simply for the children to attend the classes and get familiar with the school.
However, things took an interesting turn when the children returned home carrying a number of items they had received during their time at the summer lessons.
Among the things they came back with were school bags, water bottles, storybooks and other items. The gifts were reportedly shared after one of the students celebrated a birthday a few days earlier.
For Mcedopikin, the gesture was more than he had expected from a summer programme. He appeared particularly amused by the generosity, joking about what could happen if the school continued with such gestures.
He wondered if the gifts could eventually become even bigger, joking that iPhones might be next.
While sharing his experience, Mcedopikin also made it clear that he might not be able to match such generosity if his children are expected to celebrate their classmates in the same manner.
He said:
“I’m planning to change my children’s school, so I sent them to the school I want them to attend for summer classes this month. Only for them to come back with all these gifts (water bottle, school bag, story book and others) after one of the students celebrated their birthday days ago. Just summer class oo and they share all these? Soon, they’ll start sharing iPhones. They should not expect my children to reciprocate the same thing in the same level o because I'm not rich o.”
The situation has left Mcedopikin looking at the school experience from another angle. What began as an opportunity to test out a possible new school for his children has already come with an unexpected bonus for the youngsters.
Rather than simply returning from class with new lessons and experiences, the children also had physical gifts to take home, including items that could be useful for their school activities.
His comment about not being able to reciprocate at the same level also added a humorous touch to the situation. It appears the father is already thinking ahead about the expectations that could come with the kind of birthday culture he has seen at the school.
For now, though, the children appear to be enjoying their summer classes and the little surprises that have come with them. And if Mcedopikin’s joke is anything to go by, he may have to keep an eye on what comes home with them next.
