Social media influencer Ashmusy has pulled out of an upcoming boxing match after reality TV star Phyna accused her of attempting to have her removed from the event.
Ashmusy addressed the controversy in a statement, saying she had initially chosen not to respond but decided to speak up after becoming concerned that the silence could allow what she described as inaccurate narratives to spread.
“I'd rather not say anything but that kind of silence has let Too many narratives fly far in the past. I don't want to be in that space anymore so this is the first and last I'll say.”
Her response followed Phyna’s account of how Ashmusy became involved in the proposed fight.
Phyna had alleged that she spent several months working with the organisers to find an opponent after the original fighter became unavailable. She claimed she suggested Ashmusy to the organisers and personally contacted her before connecting her with the team behind the event.
According to Phyna, she was later informed that Ashmusy wanted her dropped from the fight because she had another person she preferred to face.
Ashmusy, however, rejected the suggestion that she had attempted to sabotage Phyna or cause her to lose her place in the event.
“Phyna I never asked anyone to drop you, neither did I advocate for your downfall in any way.”
She explained that her uncertainty about participating in the fight was the reason behind the delay in reaching a final decision.
“You approached me and I sincerely wasn’t sure, I have been contemplating since then till date hence my delayed conclusion.”
While denying that her actions were motivated by hostility, Ashmusy admitted that she did tell the organisers she would rather face another person if she eventually agreed to participate.
“However, I did mention to them that ‘if at all I’ll do it, I’d rather fight with someone else’ not out of spite, I had my reasons which Included that I was cool with you and wasn’t comfortable fighting you.”
Ashmusy said she did not secretly attempt to remove Phyna from the event. Instead, she claimed she openly asked the organisers whether she could find a different opponent and was given permission to do so.
“I asked the organizers if this was allowed and they gave me permission to find another match. (I was still unsure and busy with my trip while at this)”
The influencer also acknowledged that she understood why Phyna might have interpreted the situation differently, but insisted that replacing her was not intended as a personal attack.
“However I understand your pov but that wasn’t my intent at all.”
Despite offering her side of the story, Ashmusy said she no longer wanted to participate in the boxing event.
“As of now, I am completely uninterested in the match and I have opted out completely.”
Her decision effectively removes her from the proposed fight and brings an end to the immediate dispute over her participation.
Ashmusy also made it clear that she did not want the disagreement to develop into a prolonged public feud with Phyna. Rather than continue exchanging accusations online, she chose to end her statement on a conciliatory note.
“I wish you the very best in everything and do not intend to fight or banter regarding this or anything else.THANKYOU”
The development comes after weeks of reported preparations surrounding the boxing event, with Phyna previously saying she had been involved in efforts to secure an opponent.
With Ashmusy now officially opting out, attention is likely to shift to who will eventually step in as Phyna’s opponent and whether the organisers will proceed with the bout as planned.
