A business venture that was meant to improve his financial situation has reportedly ended in tragedy for a 40-year-old Delta State businessman identified as Ogbeni Goggo.
Goggo reportedly borrowed ₦1.8 million to finance the business, but the venture did not produce the outcome he had expected. As the financial pressure mounted, those close to him became concerned about his state of mind.
According to reports, Goggo sent messages to some friends and family members on Wednesday, August 26. In the messages, he reportedly said he was tired of life and wanted to end it.
That was the last time some of his loved ones heard from him.
When Goggo did not come home later that day, his wife became worried. She reached out to members of the family, and attempts were made to contact him by phone. Despite their efforts, they could not establish where he was.
The family continued searching for him on Thursday, hoping that he would eventually return or make contact.
By Friday morning, however, the situation had become serious enough for his wife to visit the Ebrumede Police Station in Uvwie Local Government Area and report him missing.
At the police station, officers reportedly showed her a photograph of an unidentified deceased man who had been found around the Ebrumede Flyover/DSC Roundabout area.
She reportedly recognised the man in the photograph as her husband.
Details surrounding his final moments later emerged. Reports said some people saw Goggo after he allegedly ingested Sniper and immediately raised an alarm, apparently hoping that he could still be helped.
He had reportedly collapsed and was jerking by the time people tried to assist him. The police were subsequently contacted.
His remains were later evacuated to a morgue in Agbaro.
Goggo had been married for three years, and the couple reportedly had no child. His sudden de.ath has left his wife and other members of his family dealing with the loss.
For those who knew him, the tragedy reportedly came after a difficult period involving the failed business and the ₦1.8 million loan attached to it. What began as an attempt to build a source of income ultimately became a burden he was unable to cope with.
The circumstances surrounding his de.ath have also drawn attention to the personal toll that financial difficulties and failed business ventures can have on people. While money problems can feel overwhelming, situations involving thoughts of suicide require immediate support from trusted people and emergency or professional help.
