Nollywood actress and filmmaker Toyin Abraham has opened up about how a stern warning from her husband, Kolawole Ajeyemi, led her to stop smoking cigarettes after they got married.

The actress made the revelation during an appearance on the Morayo Show, where she spoke candidly about her marriage, motherhood and the personal changes she has made since starting a family.

According to Abraham, Ajeyemi has been one of the greatest influences in her life, describing him as a supportive partner who has always encouraged her to become a better version of herself while allowing her to remain true to her personality.

Reflecting on her past lifestyle, the actress admitted that she previously smoked cigarettes regularly. Although she disclosed that she still occasionally uses a vape, she explained that she completely stopped smoking cigarettes after becoming pregnant.

Abraham said the turning point came when her husband reminded her that pregnancy came with greater responsibilities and that smoking was no longer an option.

“Kolawole Ajeyemi is one of the best things that has ever happened to me. He lets me be me. I used to smoke cigarettes. I still smoke vape once in a while. But I stopped smoking cigarettes,” she said.

Recalling the conversation that changed her habit, she explained that Ajeyemi simply told her that pregnancy meant she had to give up smoking.

“My husband told me something when I got pregnant that ‘you know you can no longer smoke’,” she recalled.

The actress revealed that even after the birth of their child, her husband continued to handle the situation with patience rather than confrontation.

She narrated that during one outing after welcoming their baby, Ajeyemi noticed her smoking but chose not to challenge her publicly. Instead, he waited for the right moment before expressing his concerns.

According to Abraham, her husband later explained that while he was not trying to control her personal choices, he did not want their child growing up around cigarette smoking or being exposed to its effects.

She said his message was clear and direct.

“When I gave birth, we went out, and he saw me smoking; he did not say anything. But he told me that he did not say I should not smoke cigarettes, but must not see the butt with his child,” she said.

Abraham added that Ajeyemi went as far as warning that their marriage would be in serious trouble if he ever found her smoking around their child again.

“He warned that anytime he sees such, that would be the end of the marriage,” she disclosed.

Beyond discussing smoking, the actress also addressed another issue that has often generated curiosity among fans—how her husband reacts to romantic scenes she performs in movies.

Abraham explained that Ajeyemi fully understands the demands of acting and has never allowed her profession to become a source of conflict in their relationship.

She described him as a mature man who distinguishes between acting and real life, noting that his confidence has helped strengthen their marriage.

“About kissing in movies, my husband is mature. He is not a boy. He is a man. Most of my colleagues’ wives are comfortable with me. I can do every other thing. But ‘promiscuity’ is not one of them,” she said.

The actress, however, noted that as her career has evolved, she no longer feels compelled to take on intimate scenes to establish herself in the industry.

According to her, the platform and reputation she has built over the years now allow her to be more selective about the roles she accepts.

“God has blessed me with a platform now; I do not have to kiss anybody like years past,” she added.

Abraham’s remarks offered fans a rare glimpse into her personal life, highlighting how marriage and motherhood have influenced her decisions both on and off the screen. Her reflections also underscored the importance she places on family, mutual respect and maintaining healthy boundaries while pursuing a successful career in Nollywood.
