Influencer, entrepreneur and reality television personality Sophia Momodu has shared a heartfelt glimpse into her parenting journey, revealing why she keeps such a close eye on her daughter, Imade, even when the youngster is away from home.
Momodu opened up about her experience in a series of posts shared on her Snapchat page, recounting how she reacted when Imade travelled to France with her schoolmates on an educational excursion.
According to the mother of one, allowing her daughter to travel without either parent was one of the most difficult decisions she has ever had to make.
Although she eventually gave her approval, Sophia admitted that she could not bring herself to stay behind while Imade spent several days away in another country.
Instead, she secretly booked a last-minute flight so she could remain close to her daughter throughout the trip.
Protective Mother
Sophia explained that she has always been an extremely protective mother and insisted that she has no plans to become less watchful as Imade grows older.
She acknowledged that her daughter may sometimes feel she is overly cautious, but maintained that her actions are motivated entirely by love and concern.
“You people should tell your internet niece that I will never care if she thinks I’m always on her case cos I’ll never stop. Also, glad she knows I’m always watching her like a hawk chile!” she wrote.
Her comments quickly attracted attention online, with many parents relating to the anxiety that comes with watching children become more independent.
Emotional Decision
While Imade was excited about the opportunity to travel with her classmates, Sophia revealed that she struggled emotionally behind the scenes.
According to her, the thought of her daughter spending 10 days in the northern part of France without either parent left her feeling anxious and emotional.
She disclosed that agreeing to the school trip was not an easy decision and that it took months before she finally gave her consent.
“2 months ago, she took a trip with her classmates. She was so excited and proud of herself.”
“I was in my room crying and booking my flight too, because 10 days in the North of France without parents was wild to me. It took me months to agree to this trip!”
Her revelation offered followers a rare insight into the emotional side of parenting, particularly the challenge of balancing a child’s growing independence with a parent’s natural instinct to protect.
Keeping Close To Imade
Although Sophia did not reveal whether Imade knew she was nearby during the excursion, she made it clear that being physically close brought her peace of mind.
She also disclosed that someone identified as Anita helped document moments from the trip by recording videos and sharing updates with her.
“Anita had to make these videos for me,” she added.
The videos reportedly helped reassure Sophia that her daughter was safe and enjoying the experience.
Fans React
Following her posts, many social media users praised Sophia for being a devoted mother, saying her actions reflected genuine parental love.
Others admitted they understood why she found it difficult to let Imade travel alone, noting that many parents experience similar fears whenever their children are away from home.
Some, however, suggested that allowing children to explore the world independently also helps build confidence and responsibility.
Despite the differing opinions, most followers agreed that Sophia’s honesty about the emotional challenges of motherhood made her story relatable.
A Strong Mother-Daughter Bond
Sophia has frequently shared moments highlighting the close relationship she shares with Imade, often posting family updates, birthdays and milestones on social media.
Her latest revelation once again demonstrates the strong bond between mother and daughter, as well as her determination to remain actively involved in every stage of Imade’s life.
While she recognises that her daughter is growing up and embracing new experiences, Sophia insists she will continue watching over her every step of the way.
For the entrepreneur, protecting Imade will always come first, regardless of how independent her daughter becomes in the years ahead.
