Nollywood actress Sarah Martins has spoken out after receiving criticism over a comment she made while celebrating her newly gifted iPhone 17 Pro Max.

The actress recently shared a video expressing her excitement after receiving the phone from Mr. Anonymous. During the celebration, she compared the device to "VeryDarkMan's kind of iPhone 17 Pro Max," a statement that sparked criticism from some viewers, who believed she was taking a swipe at the social media personality.

As the conversation grew, Sarah decided to explain what she actually meant by the remark, insisting there was no ill intention behind it.
According to the actress, the statement was simply a playful reference to a joke VeryDarkMan had previously made about his own phone. She recalled that the activist had once humorously described his device as an iPhone XR that had been modified to resemble an iPhone 17 Pro Max.

Sarah maintained that because the joke originated from VeryDarkMan himself, she did not see anything offensive about repeating it while talking about her own newly received device.

Reacting to the criticism, the actress stressed that she would never deliberately disrespect VeryDarkMan without any reason. She also questioned why many people interpreted her words as an insult instead of recognizing that she was referring to a joke that was already in the public domain.

She wrote:
"I can NEVER disrespect VDM unprovoked... can’t you all take different humor from insult? Even my president personally said he’s iPhone 17 pro max is an XR coupled in 17 pro max so was I wrong to say is not vdm kinda 17 pro max??? Nawa ooooo una body just dey pepper una 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️".

With the statement, Sarah made it clear that she believes her comment was taken out of context. She argued that her words were intended as lighthearted banter based on VeryDarkMan's own humorous description of his phone and not as an attempt to ridicule or belittle him.
The actress also expressed disappointment that many people chose to view the remark negatively despite the context behind it. She suggested that there should be a clearer distinction between harmless humour and deliberate insults, insisting that not every playful comment is meant to offend.

Her explanation has now provided more context to the remark, with Sarah standing by her position that she was merely echoing a joke that had already been made publicly by VeryDarkMan himself. She continues to insist that she had no intention of disrespecting him and hopes her clarification puts the matter to rest.
