Nigerian singer Runtown has broken his silence after reports claimed that a Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court reaffirmed his 2016 recording agreement with Eric Many Entertainment, the record label owned by businessman Prince Okwudili "Dilly" Umenyiora.
The reports suggested that the court ruled the agreement between the singer and the label remains valid and binding, a development that quickly reignited conversations around their long-running legal dispute.
Runtown, however, wasted no time responding.
Taking to his social media page, the singer dismissed the reports and questioned the authenticity of the court order being circulated. He also made it clear that, despite the latest claims, he has no intention of handing over access to his music catalogue.
In his words; "Back outside! So not going to let any agenda run... Mr Dilly, every year you try to deceive people with fake court orders... you think after 9 years, I'll give you passwords and access to my catalogue?? lol nice try..... Keep trying!"
The statement is the clearest indication yet that Runtown does not accept the reported outcome of the court proceedings. Rather than acknowledging the ruling, he accused Umenyiora of repeatedly using what he described as "fake court orders" to create a false impression about the dispute.
The disagreement between Runtown and Eric Many Entertainment is not a recent one. It dates back several years to the singer's time with the label, with both sides becoming locked in a legal battle over the terms of their recording agreement after their relationship broke down.
Although reports say the latest court decision reaffirmed the validity of the contract signed in 2016, Runtown's response shows the matter is far from settled in his eyes. His refusal to surrender access to his catalogue suggests the dispute over ownership and control of his music remains unresolved.
The singer's music catalogue is one of the most valuable assets connected to his career, making it unsurprising that he strongly rejected any suggestion that he would hand over passwords or access after nearly a decade of disagreements.
For now, the legal battle appears to be entering another chapter. While the reported court ruling favours Eric Many Entertainment's position, Runtown's latest statement signals that he is not backing down and remains determined to challenge claims surrounding the case.
With both sides maintaining opposing positions, the dispute that has lasted for years appears set to continue.
