Ajebutter22 Says Life In Lagos Has Gone From Bad To Worse

Singer Ajebutter22 has expressed disappointment over what he believes Lagos has become, saying the city is no longer the place he remembers from a decade ago.

The music star shared his thoughts while reflecting on how life in Nigeria's commercial capital has changed over the years. According to him, although Lagos had its fair share of challenges 10 years ago, living in the city today has become much more difficult as the cost of everyday life continues to rise.

Looking back, Ajebutter22 said there was a time when basic expenses were far more manageable. He pointed to the cost of going to the gym as one example, noting that what used to cost just a few thousand naira has increased significantly over the years. For him, that change reflects the wider economic reality many residents now face.

Sharing his frustration on his page, he said:

"Take me back to 10years ago when Lagos was rubbish then but imagine what it is now. Gym fees use to be 5k. Now we are suffering, everywhere is rubbish, flood everywhere, price of everything is high, everything is bad, everywhere dry, everybody has gone like rapture has taken place like we are the only ones remain."

Beyond the rising cost of living, the singer also spoke about the overall condition of the city. He described a Lagos where flooding has become a recurring problem, businesses are struggling, and many people are finding it increasingly difficult to keep up with daily expenses.

Ajebutter22 also suggested that the atmosphere in Lagos has changed considerably, saying it often feels as though many people have left the city. In his view, the once-busy environment no longer has the same energy it used to, leaving behind a feeling that things are not as vibrant as they once were.

His comments add to the growing conversation about the realities of living in Lagos, where inflation, transportation costs, housing expenses and the prices of essential goods have continued to put pressure on many households. While the city remains Nigeria's economic hub and attracts thousands of people in search of opportunities, residents have increasingly spoken about the financial strain that comes with living there.

For Ajebutter22, the issue goes beyond nostalgia. His remarks reflect a longing for a time when, despite the challenges, life felt more affordable and less overwhelming. Although he acknowledged that Lagos was already far from perfect 10 years ago, he believes the situation has deteriorated to the point where many people now struggle just to maintain their everyday lifestyles.
