Nigerian TikToker and streamer Habeeb Hamzat, popularly known as Peller, has opened up about his experience in police custody, revealing the challenges he faced during the four days he spent in detention.

The 21-year-old social media personality described the experience as one of the most difficult moments of his life, saying he had never been detained before and struggled to cope during his time behind bars.

Peller shared details of his ordeal shortly after regaining his freedom through a series of posts on his Snapchat page, where he told his followers about his physical and emotional state after leaving custody.

Peller Narrates Experience In Custody

According to the streamer, his time in detention left him exhausted, adding that he was not ready to appear publicly because of the effect the experience had on him.

“I am ugly now, I can’t show my face yet. Omo, I slept in cell for almost four days. It has never happened to me before in my life o,” he wrote.

Peller also revealed that some inmates recognised him while he was in custody and referred to him by his popular nickname, “001”.

Despite his fame on social media, the content creator said being detained was a completely different experience from anything he had encountered before.

He claimed that he spent the period without basic personal care, stating that he neither ate nor bathed throughout his stay in detention.

“I no chop for four good days, I no bath,” he said.

Arrest Over Tinted Vehicle Dispute

Peller was arrested on Friday in the Lekki area of Lagos following an altercation with police officers over a tinted vehicle allegedly without a number plate.

The incident attracted public attention after videos of the confrontation circulated online, showing the streamer engaging with officers before he was taken away.

Following the arrest, Peller accused the officers involved of harassment, alleging that his shirt was pulled during the encounter and that a gun was pointed at his head.

The streamer also insisted that he had recently acquired the vehicle involved in the disagreement.

The incident generated discussions on social media, with many users sharing different opinions about the encounter between the influencer and the police officers.

Peller Focuses On Future Plans

After his release, Peller said the experience had changed his perspective and made him more determined to stay away from situations that could lead to trouble.

The TikTok star explained that his attention was now focused on his personal life, particularly his upcoming wedding plans.

“Nah my wedding dey my mind. Nah to dey waka jeje after wedding japa,” he said.

Known for his energetic personality and viral livestreams, Peller has become one of Nigeria’s most recognisable young internet personalities, attracting millions of followers through his online content.

His popularity has also earned him collaborations with celebrities and public figures, making him one of the country’s most talked-about digital creators.

Court Grants Bail

Peller was later arraigned before a Lagos Magistrates’ Court alongside Bello Oladipo on allegations including obstruction of police officers, conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace and conspiracy to commit a felony.

Following the court proceedings, he was granted bail set at ₦500,000.

The decision brought an end to his four-day detention and allowed him to return to his family and supporters.

While Peller has continued to speak about the difficulties he experienced in custody, the legal process surrounding the allegations remains ongoing.

The incident has once again sparked conversations about interactions between law enforcement officials and young Nigerians, particularly public figures whose encounters often attract widespread attention online.

As Peller moves forward, the streamer appears focused on rebuilding his routine, preparing for his wedding and continuing his career in digital entertainment.
