Nollywood actress Peggy Ovire has confirmed that her marriage to fellow actor Frederick Leonard has officially come to an end after the completion of their divorce proceedings.
The actress announced the development through a post shared on her Instagram Story, where she expressed gratitude to God while confirming that the legal process had been concluded.
Without offering further details about the proceedings, Peggy simply wrote:
“Thank you, Jesus. It is done.”
The brief but emotional message immediately drew attention from fans and colleagues, many of whom had closely followed reports surrounding the couple’s separation over the past several weeks.
Colleague Celebrates Her ‘Freedom’
Shortly after confirming the divorce, Peggy shared another Instagram Story featuring a congratulatory message from fellow actress Angela Eguavoen.
Angela described the actress as finally being free, writing:
“My queen is free!! Hallelujah.”
Peggy reposted the message without adding further comments, a move many followers interpreted as her way of acknowledging the support she has received throughout the difficult period.
The posts quickly circulated across social media platforms, prompting reactions from fans and members of the entertainment industry.
Divorce Follows Weeks Of Public Dispute
The confirmation comes after weeks of public exchanges surrounding the breakdown of Peggy and Frederick Leonard’s marriage.
Earlier, the actress accused her estranged husband of deliberately delaying the divorce process despite being the one who allegedly requested the separation.
According to Peggy, Frederick repeatedly failed to appear after being served court documents relating to the case.
She claimed his absence slowed down the legal process, forcing her to repeatedly call on him to attend the proceedings.
Allegations Against Frederick Leonard
During the public fallout, Peggy also accused the actor of being romantically involved with a married woman who has children.
Although the allegations generated widespread discussion online, Frederick Leonard did not publicly respond to the claims at the time.
Peggy further alleged that she saw her estranged husband attending an event alongside the woman, an incident she described as disappointing.
She shared a video from comedian Funny Bone’s event, criticising what she considered inappropriate behaviour while their divorce case was still ongoing.
Court Proceedings
As the dispute unfolded, Peggy publicly appealed to Frederick Leonard not to miss another scheduled appearance before the customary court.
She claimed he had already failed to attend previous sessions and urged him to appear for the hearing fixed for June 23.
At the time, the actress expressed frustration over what she described as repeated attempts to delay the legal process.
Her latest announcement now suggests that the matter has finally been resolved.
Fans React To Divorce Confirmation
Following Peggy’s announcement, fans took to social media to express mixed reactions.
While many congratulated the actress for moving forward with her life, others expressed sadness that the marriage had ended.
Several supporters also wished both actors well, encouraging them to focus on healing and their respective careers.
The development has become one of the latest celebrity divorce stories to attract widespread attention within the Nigerian entertainment industry.
A New Chapter
Although Peggy has not revealed what her next steps will be, her message suggests she views the conclusion of the divorce as the beginning of a new phase in her life.
The actress has remained active in Nollywood throughout the period of her marital challenges and is expected to continue pursuing her acting career.
For now, neither Frederick Leonard nor his representatives have publicly commented on Peggy’s latest announcement confirming the end of their marriage.
With the legal process now completed, the former couple appear set to move forward separately after bringing their marriage to an official close.
