Former Big Brother Naija housemate Leo DaSilva has shared his thoughts on the controversy surrounding the family of late Nollywood actor Alex Ekubo, encouraging people to document their final wishes through video wills to reduce disagreements after their passing.

His reaction comes amid the ongoing public debate that followed the actor’s burial, with members of Alex’s family making several allegations regarding the circumstances leading to his death and the handling of his funeral.

Taking to his social media platform, Leo argued that being related by blood does not always translate into genuine love or healthy family relationships.

According to him, conflicts among relatives are not uncommon, making it important for individuals to leave behind clear instructions that cannot easily be disputed.

He advised people to create video wills alongside their legal documents, explaining that such recordings could provide direct guidance on how they want their affairs handled after death.

Leo maintained that video messages would help eliminate confusion and reduce the chances of family members interpreting a deceased person's wishes differently.

"I wish people understand that blood relatives can still mean nothing in the grand scheme of things. They could be your enemies and they could actually not even be in your life.

"This is why I always suggest video wills. Make a video of exactly what you expect after your death so that people don’t confuse your enemies for your family because of relation by blood," he wrote.

Leo’s comments follow allegations made by some members of Alex Ekubo’s family after the actor was laid to rest in his hometown of Arochukwu, Abia State.

The controversy intensified after Alex’s cousin, David Ekubo, released a statement on behalf of some family members, claiming there were unanswered questions surrounding the actor’s final days.

He alleged that relatives were not informed immediately after Alex died on May 11 and expressed concerns about the way information regarding his illness and death was handled.

David further claimed that the family member who retrieved the actor’s body from the mortuary was allegedly not allowed to inspect it.

He also questioned aspects of the funeral arrangements, insisting that some close relatives, including Alex’s biological mother and only sibling, were not adequately briefed before the burial took place.

The late actor reportedly died at the age of 40 after battling stage four kidney cancer, a diagnosis that only became widely known following his passing.

The allegations have continued to spark conversations across social media, with many Nigerians expressing differing opinions on family relationships, inheritance, and funeral arrangements.

Leo’s recommendation of video wills has also generated discussion, with some agreeing that documenting personal wishes could help prevent unnecessary disputes among loved ones.
