After months of public speculation about the state of their relationship, Tanzanian singer Zuchu has confirmed that her marriage to fellow music star Diamond Platnumz has come to an end.
In an emotional message shared with her fans on social media, Zuchu revealed that she and Diamond Platnumz, whose real name is Naseeb Abdul, are now separated and are going through a divorce. The announcement marks the end of one of East Africa's most talked-about celebrity relationships, which lasted for six years.
Describing the decision as one that weighed heavily on her heart, Zuchu admitted it was not easy to make but said she believes it is the right step for her personal well-being.
"My husband and I are now separated and going through a divorce," she wrote.
The award-winning singer explained that after years of trying to make the relationship work, she has decided to put herself first and focus on rebuilding her life.
"I announce this with a heavy heart. After 6 years of being together, I have finally decided to choose myself," she said.
Despite the separation, Zuchu made it clear that there is no hostility between her and Diamond Platnumz or his family. She dismissed any suggestion of conflict, saying she wishes everyone involved nothing but peace.
"I don't have anything bad to say about my husband, Naseeb Abdul, or his family," she wrote.
Instead of dwelling on the end of the marriage, Zuchu said she intends to dedicate her time to healing emotionally, improving her health, and giving more attention to her music career.
"As for me, this is the time to heal and focus more on my health and my work," she added.
The singer also reflected on her faith, saying she believes everything happens according to Allah's plan. She acknowledged that although they both tried to make the marriage succeed, life has taken a different direction.
"Provision comes from Allah, Alhamdulillah. We tried, but Allah had a different plan. I have no grudge against anyone this is simply life," she said.
Zuchu concluded her statement with the Islamic phrase "Hasbunallahu wa ni'mal Wakil," meaning, "Allah is sufficient for us, and He is the best disposer of affairs." The message underscored her acceptance of the situation and her determination to move forward with faith rather than bitterness.
The announcement has sparked widespread reactions across social media, with fans expressing sadness over the reported end of the couple's marriage while others offered prayers and words of encouragement to both artists as they begin a new chapter in their lives.
Neither Diamond Platnumz nor his management had publicly responded to Zuchu's statement at the time of writing. As fans await his reaction, attention remains focused on how two of Tanzania's biggest music stars will navigate life and their careers following the end of their marriage.
