Former Big Brother Naija housemate Doyin David has shared heartfelt advice with contestants preparing to enter the BBNaija Season 11 house, urging them to remain authentic and avoid becoming forgettable during the competition.

Speaking during the BBNaija Season 11 pre-show media launch held in Lagos on Thursday, the reality TV star encouraged the incoming housemates to express themselves freely without allowing fear of public criticism to influence their actions.

According to Doyin, one of the biggest mistakes contestants make is becoming overly cautious about protecting their public image instead of allowing viewers to see their real personalities.

‘Don’t Be Boring’

Addressing the incoming housemates, Doyin stressed that the Big Brother Naija house rewards contestants who are genuine, entertaining and willing to stand out.

She warned participants against becoming passive observers, saying viewers are unlikely to remember housemates who fail to contribute meaningfully to conversations and activities inside the house.

“My advice to the incoming BBNaija Season 11 housemates is, don’t be boring, don’t be a furniture. Don’t be scared of people judging you.

“Say whatever you want to say and do whatever you want to do. You will deal with consequences later,” she said.

Her remarks reflect one of the long-standing realities of the reality television show, where outspoken personalities often dominate discussions both inside and outside the house.

Be Comfortable Standing Alone

Beyond encouraging contestants to be expressive, Doyin also advised them to prepare emotionally for the realities of living with strangers under constant surveillance.

She explained that friendships may not always develop quickly, making it important for housemates to become comfortable with their own company.

According to her, contestants should avoid becoming emotionally dependent on other housemates because alliances can change unexpectedly during the competition.

“Also, learn how to have fun by yourself. When you are in that house, you might not have a lot of friends but you need to be able to stand alone and don’t be depressed about it,” Doyin added.

She noted that maintaining emotional strength throughout the show could make a significant difference in how contestants handle pressure, nominations and interpersonal conflicts.

Anticipation Builds For Season 11

Doyin’s comments come as excitement continues to grow ahead of the launch of Big Brother Naija Season 11, which organisers have confirmed will premiere on July 26, 2026.

The upcoming edition is already generating widespread attention following the announcement of a record-breaking grand prize worth ₦160 million.

The winner of this year’s competition will receive ₦100 million in cash alongside a brand-new SUV, making it the biggest reward package in the history of the reality television franchise.

The increase in prize money has further heightened expectations among fans, who are eager to see a fresh lineup of contestants compete for the life-changing reward.

BBNaija Continues To Shape Careers

Since its return in 2017, Big Brother Naija has remained one of Africa’s most influential reality television shows, producing celebrities who have gone on to establish successful careers in entertainment, business and media.

Former contestants have built careers as actors, musicians, influencers, entrepreneurs and television personalities, using the platform to reach millions of fans.

Doyin herself remains one of the show’s most recognisable alumni, frequently sharing her opinions on entertainment, relationships and social issues while maintaining a strong presence on social media.

Her advice reflects lessons drawn from her own experience in the house, where contestants constantly navigate friendships, rivalries and public scrutiny.

Staying Authentic

As the countdown to Season 11 continues, Doyin believes authenticity remains one of the most valuable qualities any contestant can possess.

Rather than trying to please everyone, she encouraged the incoming housemates to embrace their individuality and allow viewers to connect with their true personalities.

With millions of viewers expected to follow every moment of the new season, contestants will once again have the opportunity to entertain audiences, build their personal brands and compete for the biggest grand prize in the history of Big Brother Naija.
