Fuji music icon, Wasiu Alabi Pasuma, has taken a firm stand against the alleged unauthorized use of his creative assets, issuing a legal warning to several individuals and companies accused of exploiting his intellectual property without consent.
In a formal notice dated June 5, 2026, and issued through his legal representatives, the veteran artiste alleged that multiple entities have been using his image, music, and video content for commercial gain without obtaining the required permission.
According to the notice, the alleged infringement includes the unauthorized use of Pasuma’s photographs, likeness, sound recordings, musical compositions, and video materials across social media platforms, entertainment channels, and digital distribution services.
His legal team stated that these actions amount to a breach of Nigeria’s copyright laws and constitute unlawful exploitation of his creative works. The notice stressed that such usage was done without his written authorization or any valid licensing agreement.
Pasuma, widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in Fuji music, demanded an immediate halt to all ongoing use of his materials. He also instructed the parties involved to take down any content linked to him across all platforms, including streaming services, promotional pages, and online media outlets.
In addition to the takedown order, the singer requested a full disclosure of any revenue generated from the alleged unauthorized exploitation of his intellectual property. He further demanded that all existing agreements or licenses, if any, be forwarded to his legal representatives for verification.
The notice gave the affected companies a strict 14-day deadline, set to expire on June 19, 2026, to comply with the demands outlined.
Failure to meet the deadline, according to the legal statement, would leave Pasuma with no choice but to initiate legal proceedings. These actions may include claims for damages, court injunctions, and other legal remedies permitted under Nigerian law.
The list of those named in the notice includes High Kay (Q) Dancent Ltd, Sarolaj Music & Films Intl, Role Model Entertainment Ltd, NextXtar, Stability Production, UMIam, Moh Saheed, OgaNla TV, Monya Shau Films & Records (O), and G3 Entertainment Limited.
His legal representatives emphasized that the notice is without prejudice to any other rights or remedies available to the artiste, adding that Pasuma reserves the right to pursue further legal action if the infringement continues or escalates.
The development highlights growing concerns within Nigeria’s entertainment industry over intellectual property protection, as more artistes seek stricter enforcement against unauthorized digital usage of their works.
