Veteran Nollywood actor and singer Jude Chukwuka celebrated his 61st birthday with an exclusive listening party to unveil his latest music project titled Things I Love.
The event was held on Tuesday evening at The Box Lounge in Lagos and brought together close friends, family members, colleagues in the entertainment industry, and some of Chukwuka’s former schoolmates.
Among the notable guests present were Nollywood actors Saidi Balogun and Olarotimi Fakunle.
During the gathering, Chukwuka performed Cheat Code, a duet from the album featuring his wife, Mimi.
The seven-track project also includes Nancy Pelosi, Brazilian Assasin, Arsenal (Mase beru), Redemption Day, Invisible Striker, and Kodak.
Speaking with TheCable Lifestyle, Chukwuka described the occasion as more than a birthday celebration, saying it was also an opportunity to introduce another side of his career.
“At 60, I have been able to see my children and children’s children. That is a plus. Then this year, I made a seven-track album. I told myself I should let my friends come together and do this live. So you can have managers who would spread the news,” he said.
“For me, it is a great platform to let them know things I do outside of acting. For me, it is something that has been there forever. I am doing it this year on two things.”
The actor also disclosed that one of the songs on the album, Arsenal (Mase beru), was inspired by his passion for football and his long-standing support for Arsenal F.C..
“First, I am an Arsenal fan. I knew that we were going to win the league this season. In December, I did a song ‘Arsenal (Mase beru)’. So it is a year to celebrate the 22 years of drought for Arsenal,” he added.
Mimi also spoke during the event, expressing gratitude and affection for her husband while reflecting on how they met.
“I am the happiest woman on earth. I am a happy wife because of the kind of person that I have. Words are not enough to express how I feel about him. He is a very wonderful person,” she said.
