Media personality Daddy Freeze has issued a fresh public challenge to former Big Brother Naija housemate Cross Okonkwo, escalating ongoing conversations around faith healing and the claims made by some religious leaders in Nigeria.
In a statement shared during a recent exchange, Daddy Freeze said he was willing to pay ₦50 million if any of the “men of God” associated with Cross Okonkwo could successfully heal just one person out of a group of 50 physically challenged individuals he claims he would provide within 72 hours.
The outspoken broadcaster framed the challenge as a test of authenticity for public claims of miraculous healing often made within religious circles. According to him, the offer is not meant to insult faith but to question what he describes as unverified assertions that are frequently presented as miracles without independent proof.
The situation began after Daddy Freeze had earlier made comments questioning the healing powers attributed to some well-known Nigerian pastors, including Nathaniel Bassey and Pastor Jerry Eze. His remarks referenced public testimonies surrounding individuals who had reportedly been healed through prayer, and he questioned why similar outcomes were not consistently observable in verifiable conditions.
Cross Okonkwo reportedly reacted strongly to those comments, defending the role of religious leaders and urging Daddy Freeze to stop making what he considered disrespectful statements about men of God. That response triggered the latest round of remarks from Daddy Freeze, who then directly addressed Cross in his ₦50 million challenge.
In his challenge, Daddy Freeze insisted that if such healing powers truly exist, they should be demonstrable under clear and controlled conditions. He maintained that he would personally provide 50 individuals with physical disabilities and allow a 72-hour window for any participating pastor to heal just one of them in order to claim the reward.
He further emphasized that the exercise would serve as a public demonstration rather than a private claim, arguing that transparency is necessary when discussing extraordinary spiritual abilities. According to him, beliefs that influence large audiences should also be open to verification when claims are made in the public space.
The comments have since intensified ongoing debates between critics and supporters of modern-day miracle claims, especially within Nigerian Christianity, where faith healing remains a widely discussed and deeply divisive subject.
