The much-anticipated Big Brother Naija Season 10 reunion officially premiered on Monday night, immediately setting a dramatic tone as former housemates returned to the spotlight with unresolved grievances, emotional confessions, and renewed tensions.
Hosted by veteran presenter Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, the opening episode wasted no time in diving into the core of the drama that had lingered since the end of the reality show season. What was expected to be a reflective reunion quickly turned into a night of confrontations, emotional breakdowns, and sharp exchanges.
From the very beginning, housemates were seen revisiting past conflicts that had divided them during their stay in the Big Brother house. Issues surrounding friendships, romantic entanglements, and perceived betrayals were brought back into discussion, with several contestants struggling to maintain composure as old wounds were reopened.
One of the most emotional moments of the night involved Thelma, who broke down in tears while addressing the controversial situation involving Kayikunmi and Isabella. The issue, which had been a major talking point during the season, resurfaced as housemates revisited misunderstandings linked to relationships formed both before and during their time in the house.
Despite Ebuka’s attempts to calm the situation and guide the conversation forward, emotions continued to escalate. Thelma found it difficult to defend her perspective, leading to a visibly emotional reaction that became one of the defining moments of the episode.
Tension escalated further during a separate confrontation involving Big Soso and Isabella. Big Soso made a controversial remark implying that she had the financial capacity to “handle” Isabella’s situation. The comment immediately sparked backlash within the group and further widened the already existing divide between several housemates.
Although Isabella appeared relatively calm during the exchange, her silence only intensified the tension in the room, with other housemates reacting differently to the statement. The moment added another layer of conflict to an already charged atmosphere.
Another key highlight of the episode involved Kola and Doris, who revisited their strained relationship from the show. Kola dismissed the idea that there was ever a romantic connection between them, describing the narrative as exaggerated and misunderstood.
Doris, however, maintained her position, insisting that she interpreted Kola’s actions differently during their time in the house. The disagreement quickly escalated as both parties stood firm on their interpretations of past events.
The discussion took a sharper turn when Kola made a remark that was widely considered derogatory, further intensifying the tension between them. The exchange left the studio atmosphere noticeably strained, as other housemates watched the confrontation unfold.
In a lighter but still reflective segment, Zita and Danboskid addressed their brief connection during the show. Both parties explained that their relationship naturally fizzled out after the competition ended, attributing it to a mutual lack of effort in sustaining what they once shared.
The pair agreed that there was no animosity between them, describing their breakup in casual terms and jokingly referring to it as “Lagos happened,” a phrase often used to explain situations influenced by the fast-paced lifestyle and realities of living in Lagos.
Another important moment came when Mide responded to earlier accusations made by Zita during the season, particularly claims of colorism. Mide firmly denied the allegations, stating that her actions had been misunderstood and misinterpreted.
Zita, however, stood her ground, reiterating that she felt she had experienced dismissive behaviour from some housemates while in the house. The disagreement highlighted ongoing sensitivity around perception, identity, and interpersonal dynamics within the group.
Throughout the episode, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu played the role of mediator, frequently stepping in to calm tensions, redirect conversations, and ensure that each housemate had the opportunity to express their side of the story. However, the emotional weight of unresolved issues often made it difficult to maintain order for long.
The premiere episode has now set the stage for what is expected to be a highly dramatic reunion season. With multiple conflicts still unresolved and several housemates yet to take the hot seat, viewers are anticipating more revelations, confrontations, and emotional moments in the coming episodes.
The BBNaija Season 10 reunion continues to air on weekdays across Africa Magic channels on DStv and GOtv, with additional streaming available on DStv Stream, promising fans a steady dose of entertainment, drama, and long-awaited clarifications from the housemates who once dominated screens across the continent.
