Nollywood actress and filmmaker Yvonne Jegede has called for the release of social media blogger Justice Crack, stating that his continued detention has become unnecessary and embarrassing.
In a video message circulating online, the actress acknowledged that the blogger may have acted wrongly, while also stressing that civilians are not expected to interfere in military-related matters.
“We have come to understand that he has done wrong. We have also come to understand that a civilian should not dabble into military affairs. We accept that,” she said.
Despite this admission, Jegede appealed for leniency on behalf of his family, insisting that the situation has gone on long enough and is now affecting innocent dependents.
“I am coming on his behalf, his wife, kids and associates to say please release him back to his family. Please send him back home,” she added.
The actress further expressed concern about the broader implications of the case, noting that it has become embarrassing for society to handle the matter in such a manner.
“It’s becoming embarrassing that this is where we are having to flex muscle,” she said.
Jegede also highlighted the economic hardship currently facing many families, arguing that detaining a breadwinner for an extended period places additional strain on dependents who may already be struggling.
“That being said, also remember that times are hard; it is quite unfair and inhumane to take a breadwinner from his family,” she added.
Her comments have sparked conversations online, with many social media users divided over the situation. While some agree with her humanitarian appeal, others insist that due process must be followed if any laws were violated.
Justice Crack’s detention has continued to generate public attention, especially among social media users who follow his content and commentary.
Jegede, known for her roles in several Nollywood productions, has occasionally used her platform to speak on social issues and advocate for individuals she believes deserve fair treatment.
Her latest intervention adds to ongoing debates about freedom of expression, accountability, and the limits of civilian involvement in sensitive institutional matters.
As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official statement regarding whether the appeal for his release will be considered by relevant authorities.
