Amarachi Amusi, popularly known as Ashmusy, has opened up about her decision to freeze her eggs, revealing that repeated failed relationships played a major role in her choice to take control of her future motherhood plans.

The social media influencer said she had always placed strong importance on becoming a mother and initially expected that marriage would come before the age of 30. 

However, after experiencing relationships that did not lead to marriage, she began to rethink her expectations and long-term plans.

According to her, the emotional disappointment from past relationships made her realise that finding a life partner might take longer than she had once believed. 

This, she explained, pushed her to explore medical options that would preserve her chances of having children in the future.

Ashmusy said she first became aware of egg freezing after hearing a fellow public figure share her personal experience with the procedure.

 That moment, she added, encouraged her to research the process in detail, speak with medical professionals and understand what it involved before making a decision.

Egg freezing, also known as oocyte cryopreservation, involves collecting a woman’s eggs, freezing them at very low temperatures, and storing them for future use through assisted reproductive methods. She described it as a practical option for women who want to delay childbirth due to personal circumstances.

The influencer admitted that the decision initially came with emotional pressure, especially as she approached her 30s without being married. 

She said she experienced fear and uncertainty but eventually reached a point of acceptance about her situation.

Over time, she said the procedure brought her peace of mind, helping her remove the pressure of age and relationship expectations. 

She now feels more relaxed and confident about taking her time to choose the right partner without anxiety about her biological clock.

Ashmusy also emphasised that her decision does not redefine her identity as a woman, stressing that womanhood is not limited to motherhood alone.
