Ndika reportedly passed away on May 20, although details surrounding the cause of his death have not been disclosed to the public at the time of filing this report.
The Grammy-nominated artiste shared the heartbreaking news on her Instagram page on Thursday, where she poured out her emotions in a series of deeply personal messages accompanied by photos of them together.
In her post, Niniola described her late husband not only as her partner in marriage but also as her closest companion, confidant, and strongest emotional support system.
She revealed that they had been together for about 13 years, making their relationship one of the most significant parts of her life before his sudden death.
“I find myself waiting, expecting Michael to walk through the door… my BEST FRIEND my CONFIDANT my PILLAR my Gossip Partner my LAUGHTER my JOY GIVER my Provider my business partner my HUSBAND my BROTHER,” she wrote.
The singer went on to express the depth of her grief, admitting that accepting his absence has been extremely difficult for her.
“HE was the air I breathe I can’t survive this… I looked forward to him coming home every time he went out… Even in the house we were always together He never wanted me to be away from him,” she added.
She further explained that their bond went beyond marriage, as they shared almost every aspect of life together, including business and daily routines.
“Always wanted me to be by his side I’m naturally a LONER and Michael was all that I needed because he was one in a Million … He touched my life in different capacities And God took him from me,” she wrote.
Ndika was reportedly the Chief Executive Officer of NaijaReview, a multimedia platform known for promoting Afro-house and contemporary African music content, making him actively involved in the entertainment industry as well.
Since the news broke, fans, colleagues, and members of the music industry have continued to send messages of condolence to the singer, expressing shock and sympathy over the tragic loss.
Niniola, who rose to fame after finishing as second runner-up on Project Fame West Africa in 2013, has since built a strong career in the Nigerian music industry.
She released her debut single Ibadi in 2014, and over the years has become one of the most respected voices in Afro-house music, known for her unique sound and energetic performances.
Her 2017 hit Maradona further propelled her to international recognition, earning her praise from global stars and music critics alike.
As she continues to mourn, many fans have urged the singer to take time away from the public eye to grieve and heal, while celebrating the life and legacy of her late husband, Michael Ndika.
