Celebrity businessman and nightlife entrepreneur Cubana Chief Priest has opened up about his long-running public fallout with Afrobeats star Burna Boy, alleging that the singer’s criticism of him was fueled by his close relationship with fellow music star Davido.

Speaking during an interview on The Beat 99.9 FM, Cubana Chief Priest reflected on his rise to fame and the challenges that often come with success, particularly in the entertainment industry.

According to the businessman, many people begin to react differently once they notice someone becoming successful financially. He explained that while achievement attracts admiration, it can also bring resentment, criticism and attempts to discredit a person’s accomplishments.

He stated that his success story was built through years of dedication, apprenticeship and perseverance, stressing that his wealth did not appear overnight.

“Success comes with a lot of hate. I started my journey from apprenticeship and service and I learnt so much about growth and perseverance. When you start becoming successful, you understand how people treat you,” he said.

The socialite further alleged that Burna Boy deliberately attacked the credibility of his wealth during their online clashes, claiming the Grammy-winning singer used his platform to cast doubts on how he made his money.

According to Cubana Chief Priest, the criticism was not random but connected to his friendship and loyalty to Davido.

“I was on my own and Burna Boy came for me, went on his big platform and started tweeting things that are not genuine, things that are not possible, things that have not existed and the attack was straight to my wealth,” he stated.

“So he wanted to make people look at my wealth, disrespect my wealth, I felt bad and that happened because of my relationship with Davido.”

The businessman suggested that his closeness to Davido may have contributed to tensions between himself and Burna Boy, especially given the long-standing rivalry and comparisons often made between the two Afrobeats superstars by fans online.

Cubana Chief Priest also used the interview to praise Davido, describing the singer as a loyal friend who has consistently supported his businesses and personal projects over the years.

“David is always there for me. He opened all my nightclubs, restaurants, everything. He always shows up to support me,” he said.

The celebrity barman added that beyond friendship, both of them continue to collaborate in business and entertainment ventures. He hinted that Davido has shown interest in investing in nightlife businesses while he himself is also exploring music more seriously.

“He’s investing in clubs in Lagos, and I’m making music to prove a point that I can,” he added.

The comments have since generated reactions online, with fans revisiting the public exchanges that previously occurred between Burna Boy and Cubana Chief Priest on social media.

While Burna Boy has not responded to the latest remarks, the interview has once again sparked discussions about loyalty, rivalry and influence within Nigeria’s entertainment industry.

Over the years, Cubana Chief Priest has become one of the most visible personalities in Nigerian nightlife and celebrity culture, frequently appearing alongside top artistes and public figures. His friendship with Davido, in particular, has remained one of the most talked-about celebrity relationships in the entertainment scene.
