Yomi Fabiyi Says Baba Ijesha Betrayed Him After His Was Released From Prison

For years, Yomi Fabiyi stood firmly beside Baba Ijesha, offering support even as one of Nollywood’s most controversial legal battles unfolded. The 2021 sexual assault case shook the industry, but Fabiyi remained by his colleague’s side, advocating for a fair process and assisting with his appeal.

 His commitment extended beyond the courtroom, continuing even after Baba Ijesha completed his prison sentence in 2025.

Yet, what Fabiyi believed was loyalty and mutual respect has, he says, been met with betrayal. Shortly after Baba Ijesha regained his freedom, Fabiyi claims he was targeted with intimidation. 

“The same God that witnessed Baba Ijesha’s ungratefulness is now dealing with him. After all my efforts to save him from a life sentence, he betrayed me. It seems that whenever I help someone, they repay me with evil. Baba Ijesha is a prime example,” he said.

The actor described instances that deepened the wound, including alleged threats to prevent him from speaking about the case and the deliberate exclusion of his name from a music track released soon after Baba Ijesha regained his freedom.

 “I recall all the efforts I made for his appeal, and how he went behind my back to tell a man to threaten me not to talk about his case again. When he wanted to release a song, he intentionally excluded my name, thinking they could mock me. However, evil deeds will always boomerang,” Fabiyi added.

Fabiyi’s unwavering support had previously divided opinions in the public sphere. While some admired his courage and commitment to justice, others criticized his stance, questioning why he would align himself with a convicted actor. For Fabiyi, the decision was never about popularity it was guided by fairness and personal conviction.

Now, the sense of betrayal cuts deeper. Fabiyi expresses disappointment not only at the perceived lack of gratitude but also at what he sees as a disregard for the friendship and respect he believed existed. The episode has left him reflecting on the complexities of loyalty, trust, and the challenges of standing by someone through the highs and lows of public scrutiny.
