Ayo Adesanya has shared a deeply personal account of how her life experiences, particularly surviving domestic abuse, played a major role in shaping her decision to launch a podcast focused on real-life conversations and healing.

The actress revealed that her programme, titled Real Life With Aunty Ayo, was born out of a desire to create a safe space where people can openly discuss emotional struggles, relationship challenges, and personal trauma without fear of judgment. According to her, the aim is to encourage healing through shared experiences.

Speaking in a recent interview, Adesanya explained that her journey through domestic violence made her more empathetic to the struggles of others.

She noted that while the experience was painful, it also gave her a stronger sense of purpose in helping people navigate similar situations.

She added that the podcast allows her to connect with guests on a more personal level, giving them the opportunity to speak freely about issues that are often kept private.

For her, this openness represents progress in society, as many topics that were once considered taboo are now being discussed more openly.

Adesanya also highlighted her academic background in Communication and Language Arts from the University of Ibadan, explaining that it provided her with the skills needed to manage conversations, listen effectively, and guide discussions in a meaningful direction.

She described her ability to host guests and listen to their stories as both a responsibility and a privilege.

Over the years, she has built a strong reputation in the Yoruba film industry, appearing in several notable productions and becoming a familiar face in Nollywood since the 1990s.

Her transition into podcasting marks a new phase in her career, where she is using digital platforms to reach a wider audience beyond film.

The podcast focuses on real-life issues such as relationships, personal growth, emotional healing, and social challenges. It features different guests who share their experiences in an effort to inspire others and promote understanding.

Adesanya believes that storytelling remains a powerful tool for healing and education. Through her platform, she hopes to continue encouraging honest conversations that help people feel less alone in their struggles while learning from one another’s journeys.
