Reality TV star Phyna has sparked fresh conversations on gender expectations after revealing that she sometimes wishes she were a man due to the pressures placed on women in society.

The Big Brother Naija winner made the statement during a recent discussion on her podcast, where she spoke openly about how gender roles continue to shape opportunities, behaviour, and public perception in everyday life. According to her, these expectations often place women under more scrutiny compared to men.

Phyna explained that in her view, men generally have a more straightforward path in life, as society tends to focus mainly on their ability to work, earn money, and provide for themselves or their families. She suggested that this simplicity can make life less complicated for men compared to women.

She contrasted this with the experience of women, stating that they are often subjected to multiple societal rules, judgments, and limitations that can affect their freedom to make decisions or pursue their ambitions. 

In her opinion, these pressures can sometimes restrict women from fully expressing themselves or chasing large-scale goals without criticism.

The media personality further noted that women are frequently evaluated more harshly in public spaces, with their choices often attracting unnecessary attention or disapproval. She argued that this creates an added burden that men do not always face to the same extent.

While expressing her frustration, Phyna emphasized that her comments were not meant to dismiss the struggles of men but to highlight the imbalance in societal expectations between genders. 

She suggested that more conversations are needed around equality and the pressures both men and women face in different ways.
