Veteran Nigerian media personality and actor Patrick Doyle has spoken publicly following the heartbreaking loss of his newborn daughter, just days after celebrating her arrival.
The broadcaster had earlier shared joyful news of welcoming a baby girl, Omayinuwa Mayen Harriet Doyle, with his wife, expressing gratitude and happiness at the new addition to his family. At the time, he noted that both mother and child were in good health, describing the moment as one filled with overwhelming joy.
However, in a tragic turn of events, Doyle later announced via his Facebook page that the infant had passed away. In his message, he reflected on the brief but meaningful time she spent with the family.
He wrote that although her stay was short, it brought immense happiness, adding that he wished she had lived longer.
In a follow-up video shared online, the veteran actor opened up about the depth of his grief, revealing that this loss adds to a series of personal tragedies he has endured over the years.
According to him, he is no stranger to pain, having previously experienced the loss of close family members. He spoke about the emotional weight of losing a beloved wife, the sorrow of burying a son, and now the fresh heartbreak of laying to rest a newborn child.
Despite the devastating loss, Doyle stated that his faith remains his anchor. He emphasised that his belief in God continues to guide him through the difficult period, even as he processes the grief.
His experience has once again drawn attention to the painful reality faced by some families, including public figures, who have had to cope with the loss of children.
Over the years, several Nigerian entertainers have shared similar tragedies. Veteran actor Alapini Osha once recounted losing his four-year-old son during a period when he was battling illness. Similarly, singer Shanko Rasheed announced the loss of his son in 2024, describing the pain as something no parent should ever have to endure.
The industry has also witnessed other heartbreaking moments, including the death of actor Francis Duru’s son, Ifeanyi, in 2024. The actor had described his child as a fighter who battled bravely before his passing.
Comedian Aphrican Ace and his wife also experienced a similar loss when their newborn son died shortly after birth, while skit maker Olagunju Solomon Olamide, popularly known as Akika, lost his son in 2023.
These recurring stories highlight the emotional struggles many families face, regardless of status, and the resilience required to cope with such profound loss.
Doyle’s recent revelation has been met with an outpouring of sympathy from fans, colleagues, and well-wishers, many of whom have taken to social media to offer prayers and words of comfort.
As he navigates this difficult chapter, the veteran continues to lean on faith, drawing strength from his beliefs while mourning the loss of his child.
