A wave of reactions has followed a public exchange involving social media adviser Oriretan Honour and reality TV personality Ijeoma Otebor, popularly known as Phyna, after the latter shared updates about her cosmetic surgery recovery.
Phyna recently disclosed that she underwent a 360 liposuction procedure combined with a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL). Since the procedure, she has been actively engaging her followers with updates about her healing journey. In her latest post, she described her recovery phase as ongoing, noting that although swelling remains, she is encouraged by the direction of her results.
"Two weeks post-op. The healing is healing. Still swollen but the vision is clear. Trusting the process and loving the progress,” she wrote.
What began as a routine post quickly turned into a talking point after Oriretan Honour reacted in the comment section.
His response took a critical tone as he questioned the decision behind the surgery and referenced a personal tragedy within Phyna’s family.
“Phyna, it’s unwise that your sister died in pain last year, yet, doing BBL, when you’d be crying.”
The comment immediately drew attention, with many users expressing surprise at the directness of his statement. Oriretan did not stop there, as he further raised concerns about Phyna’s financial standing and made sweeping remarks regarding women who undergo cosmetic enhancements.
“More unwise people may say it’s Dangote’s money you used in doing BBL, since your source of income is unknown. Ladies with BBL have olosho plans. Remove it, work on your character, and focus on marrying, not BBL. Don’t be unwise.”
His comments have since circulated widely across social media platforms, drawing mixed reactions from the public. While some users echoed parts of his concerns, many others criticised the tone and language used, arguing that personal choices regarding body enhancement should not be publicly judged in such a manner.
The discussion has continued to trend online, with conversations expanding beyond the individuals involved to broader debates about cosmetic surgery, celebrity scrutiny, and personal autonomy in the entertainment industry.
