Veteran Nigerian actor Kevin Ikeduba has spoken candidly about his long-standing journey in the film industry, expressing deep dissatisfaction with what he describes as limited financial and personal rewards after decades of work on screen.
Having built a career spanning more than two decades in Nollywood, Ikeduba shared that the experience has not translated into the level of stability or comfort he once envisioned when he started out. While he has remained active and visible in numerous productions over the years, he now believes the industry has not provided him with the kind of return he expected.
In his own words, he stated, “I’ve gained nothing from Nollywood since 25 years.”
The actor’s comments reflect a growing frustration that has shaped his recent decision to consider a complete shift in both career direction and geographical location. According to him, continuing in the industry no longer aligns with his personal goals or financial needs.
He further explained the motivation behind his next move, saying, “I still can’t afford the kind of life I want. That’s why I’ve decided to step away from acting and relocate permanently to the U.S.”
Ikeduba’s decision signals a major turning point, as he prepares to leave behind a familiar industry and transition into an entirely different environment. His plan includes relocating to the United States in search of better opportunities that could offer more financial security and long-term stability.
Beyond relocation, he also expressed openness to exploring new career paths outside entertainment. He indicated that he is willing to start afresh in a completely different field if necessary. In his words, “If everything works out, I might even join the army there or find a solid job to build a better life.”
His statement reflects the uncertainty and determination that often accompany major life transitions, especially for individuals seeking improved living conditions abroad.
Ikeduba’s revelation has drawn attention within entertainment circles, particularly as conversations around migration and career sustainability continue to grow among Nigerian professionals. His story adds to a broader discussion about the realities behind fame and long-term financial security in the creative industry.
