Nigerian disc jockey and music executive DJ Neptune has sparked fresh debate within the entertainment industry after warning that the rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI) could soon disrupt, and possibly replace, traditional music production roles. 

His comments reflect a growing concern among creatives who fear that rapid technological advancements may reshape the future of music as we know it.

Speaking during a conversation with media personality N6, DJ Neptune revealed a shocking personal experience that changed his perception of AI’s capabilities. 

According to him, he once came across a song he believed was exceptionally well-produced and ready for commercial success. Impressed by its quality, he encouraged a colleague to sign the artist responsible for the track, describing the sound as “out of this world.”

 However, the excitement quickly turned into disbelief when he discovered that the song was not created by a human producer, but generated entirely using AI technology.

The revelation, he admitted, left him shaken and highlighted just how far AI has evolved in replicating human creativity.

 For an industry that thrives on originality, emotion, and artistic expression, the idea that machines can now produce near-flawless music raises serious questions about the future role of producers, sound engineers, and even artists.

Earlier, N6 had also shared similar concerns on social media platform X, warning that AI is quietly positioning itself to take over key aspects of the music production and mastering process. 

He described what he had seen as “scary,” suggesting that many professionals within the ecosystem may soon face an uncertain future if they fail to adapt.

The conversation has since ignited reactions among fans and industry stakeholders. While some view AI as a powerful tool that can enhance creativity and reduce production costs, others see it as a potential threat to jobs and artistic authenticity. 

Critics argue that music is deeply rooted in human experiences and emotions elements that machines may struggle to genuinely replicate despite technological sophistication.
