Actress Nkechi Blessing Sunday has publicly criticised the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for allegedly failing to act against social media personality Blessing Okoro, popularly known as Blessing CEO, who she claims defrauded Nigerians.
In a fiery Instagram post, Nkechi called out Blessing CEO, accusing her of scamming people despite receiving financial support from others. She expressed frustration that the anti-graft agency had not taken steps to investigate the alleged fraud, urging the EFCC to intervene.
“Blessing Nkiru Okoro, you’re nothing but a broad daylight thief. I think you’ve been with a provider, a man that does everything for you.
You had to scam Nigerians just to feed. If we had a working system, you would be in prison by now. Unrepentant thief!” Nkechi wrote.
She continued, addressing the EFCC directly: “@officialefcc, someone defrauded Nigerians causing pain to many, and nothing has been done about it? Blessing CEO, I am waiting for your comeback. You think after making 200 videos I will ignore you? This time, you will really rot in prison.”
The controversy comes after Blessing CEO posted on social media that she is allegedly battling breast cancer and required urgent surgery.
She also appealed for financial assistance from followers to cover her medical costs. Her post drew mixed reactions online while some sympathized and offered support, others expressed skepticism about the authenticity of her diagnosis and requested proof of her condition.
In response to the backlash, Blessing CEO clarified that she had not publicly released any medical report and would do so when ready.
She further emphasized that donations were voluntary and not contingent on publishing her medical results.
Nkechi Blessing’s comments, however, suggest a deep frustration with social media personalities allegedly exploiting audiences. Her strong words reflect ongoing concerns about accountability for online influencers who may mislead or defraud followers.
The situation highlights the intersection of social media influence, public trust, and regulatory oversight in Nigeria. As online personalities continue to amass large followings, their actions are increasingly under scrutiny, especially when financial appeals are involved.
While Blessing CEO’s health condition remains unverified, Nkechi Blessing’s call for EFCC intervention underscores the expectation that regulatory bodies act decisively to protect citizens from potential online fraud.
The controversy has reignited discussions about social media responsibility, the role of influencers, and the need for more robust mechanisms to verify claims made online.
As Nigerians watch the story unfold, the public reaction continues to reflect the delicate balance between compassion for alleged health struggles and accountability for alleged wrongdoing.
Stakeholders, including fans, regulators, and the media, are closely monitoring developments, waiting to see whether the EFCC will take action in line with Nkechi Blessing’s demands.
