Content creator and social media personality, VeryDarkMan, popularly known as VDM, has raised serious concerns about his safety following a public apology from socialite King Mitchy.
The activist suggested that Mitchy’s apology might be a “decoy” meant to mislead the public and obscure ulterior motives.
The controversy began when King Mitchy issued a public statement directed at VDM, acknowledging his advocacy and expressing regret for previously confronting him.
In her apology, she said: “To VeryDarkMan, my brother, I see what you’re fighting for, you’re fighting for Nigeria and we can make Nigeria a better place. I’m sorry for coming at you like that.
Maybe now I understand you better.” She added that VDM needed supporters rather than critics in his fight for a better Nigeria.
However, VDM quickly expressed skepticism about the apology, taking to his Instagram page to warn that there could be more behind the public display of remorse.
He claimed that the apology appeared strategically timed and potentially linked to prior intimidation he experienced.
“This apology from King Mitchy cannot just come from nowhere. During that period, Lege Miami made a direct video about me, but later deleted it, claiming he received calls from above.
Her apology has now pointed me in the right direction,” he said.
VDM further suggested that his safety might be at risk, naming both King Mitchy and political figure Seyi Tinubu as potentially responsible if harm were to come to him.
“If anything happens to me, hold Mitchy and Seyi Tinubu responsible.
Hold them responsible, because you see this thing now, it looks like a decoy to me.
It looks like something is coming for me, and they told her to go and make this apology so that she will clear the air,” he added.
The content creator also alleged that he had received threatening messages through mutual contacts during the dispute.
He expressed frustration that these details were not addressed publicly, particularly when Seyi Tinubu issued a statement regarding the situation.
According to VDM, Mitchy’s apology failed to address the intimidation he claims to have faced, reinforcing his belief that it was a decoy.
In addition to threats, VDM warned against potential attempts to frame him for criminal activity.
He listed scenarios including drug planting, money laundering accusations, or false claims involving firearms, emphasizing that any such accusations would be orchestrated to target him.
“If you hear they see drugs or Igbo inside my car or inside my brother or anybody, na them set me up.
Anything at all. Or if you hear say I carry firearm, oh, there’s small pistol in my car, na them set me up. Anything these people do, anything to send me to prison,” he stated.
VDM’s warnings have sparked discussions online, with many debating whether the apology is genuine or part of a larger scheme.
As the saga unfolds, VDM continues to call for vigilance and accountability, urging the public to critically evaluate the intentions behind high-profile apologies and to remain aware of potential risks for activists operating in the public eye.
