Reality TV star and media personality Uriel Oputa has publicly called out relationship expert Blessing Okoro, popularly known as Blessing CEO, over her recent health revelation which sparked widespread reactions online.
Blessing CEO had earlier taken to social media to disclose that she was battling a “stage 4” illness, a statement that quickly raised concerns among her followers.
However, the lack of clarity surrounding her announcement did not sit well with Uriel, who questioned why such a serious claim was made without proper explanation.
According to her, simply mentioning “stage 4” without clearly stating the illness, especially one as severe as cancer, was misleading and insensitive.
In a strongly worded reaction, Uriel expressed disbelief over what she described as the casual use of a life-threatening condition for public consumption.
She noted that cancer is not something to be vaguely referenced or used in a manner that leaves room for speculation. Her frustration stemmed from the absence of detailed information, which she believes is necessary when discussing issues of such gravity.
Despite her criticism, Uriel maintained a balanced stance by acknowledging that if Blessing CEO’s claim is genuine, then she deserves compassion and support.
She stressed that no one facing a serious illness should be subjected to ridicule or harsh judgment. However, she warned that if the claim turns out to be false or exaggerated, it would be deeply troubling and disrespectful to those who are genuinely battling cancer.
The situation is particularly personal for Uriel, who revealed that her mother is currently fighting breast cancer.
This revelation added emotional weight to her response, as she emphasized that cancer is not just a trending topic or social media content, but a harsh reality that affects families deeply.
She explained that watching a loved one go through such a battle changes one’s perspective and makes it difficult to tolerate any form of trivialization of the disease.
Uriel further highlighted the global impact of cancer, noting that it remains one of the leading causes of death worldwide.
She urged public figures and influencers to be more responsible with their words, especially when addressing sensitive topics that can trigger fear, anxiety, or misinformation among the public.
Her comments have since sparked mixed reactions online. While some social media users supported her stance, agreeing that serious illnesses should never be used for attention, others defended Blessing CEO, suggesting that people should wait for more information before passing judgment.
As the conversation continues to unfold, the incident has once again drawn attention to the influence celebrities wield and the responsibility that comes with it. For Uriel, the message is clear health challenges like cancer should be handled with honesty, clarity, and utmost sensitivity, not ambiguity or sensationalism.
