Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh has opened up about what she describes as her first divine assignment, revealing how a simple act of obedience became a life-changing spiritual experience.

The actress took to social media to share a video of herself cleaning a place she referred to as “God’s house,” explaining that the instruction came directly from God. While she said she initially obeyed without hesitation, she admitted that she quietly questioned why she had to carry out such a task herself.

“This is the first assignment God gave me,

To clean his house.

I smiled in obedience, never questioning His instruction.

Yet, in my heart, I wondered, ‘Why cleaning, Lord?’ Especially because I have multiple staff dedicated to maintaining/cleaning my home, because I personally struggled with obsessive tendencies(OCD) toward cleanliness,” she wrote.

Tonto explained that she even asked if she could assign the task to someone else, but said she received a clear response instructing her to do it personally.

“I even asked Him, ‘Can I not simply pay others to do this?’

And He answered gently but powerfully: ‘NO CHILD, DO IT YOURSELF. It is an assignment to launch you into my Glory so that I can cleanse your life from the inside out.’”

According to her, what initially seemed like a basic chore soon took on a deeper meaning. She said the experience marked the beginning of a spiritual transformation that affected every area of her life.

“From that moment, I picked up my broom, my mop, and my buckets with joy and surrender. What seemed like a simple physical task became a spiritual transformation.

Through obedience, God began a deeper work within me, purifying, restoring, and renewing my life,” she added.

The actress went on to testify about the impact of that moment, saying she has since experienced visible changes and blessings in her life.

“Today, I can boldly declare: God has been faithful. My life reflects His goodness (restoration, celebration, and unending testimonies).

Doors that were once closed are now opening.

Help comes even from strangers (2 Corinthians 9:8).

There is not a day without evidence of His grace. Even before I pray, answers come.”

She also expressed that her relationship with God has evolved beyond seeking material blessings, noting that her desire now is to grow spiritually.

“Now, I have reached a place where I no longer seek God merely for His blessings. He has already given me the greatest gift (life, breath, and Himself). My deepest desire is ‘MORE OF HIM’… For truly, God is good, and His work in my life is undeniable.”

Her recent spiritual declarations come amid ongoing conversations about her growing commitment to faith-based activities. Weeks earlier, Tonto drew attention online after visiting a school during one of her outreach programmes, where she conducted what she described as a deliverance session for a student. She also shared her personal testimony, stating that she had once been delivered from what she called the “marine world,” adding that she now sees herself as a vessel to help others.

Despite facing criticism from some quarters over the videos, the actress remained steadfast. She continued to share clips from the outreach, making it clear that she is focused on her spiritual calling.

In another post, she wrote that the mission she believes God has given her is too important to be distracted by public opinion. She stated that her focus remains firmly on her faith, adding that she would rather endure criticism than stay silent about her beliefs.

Tonto also recently made a significant personal change by dropping the “King” title from her name after eight years. She explained that the decision was made in obedience to divine instruction and asked to be addressed as Evangelist Tonto Dikeh going forward.

Her transformation has been gradual but consistent. Since turning 40, the actress has embraced a more faith-driven lifestyle, stepping away from aspects of her past that once defined her public image.

Earlier this year, she also completed a discipleship programme, describing the journey as deeply transformative. According to her, the experience strengthened her conviction and reaffirmed her belief in God.

In previous testimonies, Tonto spoke candidly about overcoming personal struggles, including long-term addiction and other habits she said she battled for years. She revealed that she started smoking at 13 and continued for nearly three decades before breaking free, alongside struggles with alcohol and other challenges.

Now, she says her focus is on growth, purpose, and deepening her relationship with God—one assignment at a time.
