Nollywood actress and producer Rita Dominic has announced the commencement of the search for the 46th queen of the prestigious Miss Nigeria pageant.
The announcement was made on Sunday, March 8, in celebration of International Women’s Day, a day globally recognised for celebrating women’s achievements and promoting gender equality.
Rita shared the update through a video posted on her Instagram page, revealing that the nationwide search for the next beauty queen has officially begun.
In her message, the actress hinted that the next winner of the pageant could emerge from any part of the country, emphasising that the competition will be open to young women from different cities across Nigeria.
“A young woman is about to step into her moment,” she wrote.
“The next Miss Nigeria could be anywhere. Not just Lagos. Not just one city. From Abuja to Calabar, Ibadan to Enugu, the search spans across Nigeria.”
She added that the hunt for the 46th Miss Nigeria is already underway, describing the next queen as a “diamond” who will soon emerge from the competition.
“The search for the diamond, the 46th Miss Nigeria, has begun,” she stated.
According to Rita Dominic, the journey to the crown will begin with the Miss Nigeria Beauty and Fashion Fair, an event designed to bring together fashion, beauty and creativity while providing opportunities for young talents in the industry.
“The journey to the crown begins at the Miss Nigeria Beauty & Fashion Fair, where beauty meets opportunity and the future of fashion takes the stage,” she said.
The actress also revealed that one of the highlights of this year’s event will be the return of the Daily Times Fashion Designer of the Year Award. The initiative, she explained, aims to spotlight emerging fashion designers and encourage the next generation of creatives shaping the Nigerian fashion industry.
“And this year, a legacy returns. The Daily Times Fashion Designer of the Year Award is being reborn, spotlighting the next generation of creative talent shaping the future of Nigerian fashion,” she added.
Rita Dominic currently serves as the chairman of the Miss Nigeria board and has been actively involved in efforts to reposition the historic pageant as more than just a beauty contest.
Under her leadership, the organisation has focused on promoting leadership, cultural values and empowerment opportunities for young Nigerian women.
The Miss Nigeria Beauty and Fashion Fair, which marks the official start of activities for the 2026 pageant, is scheduled to take place on March 22 and March 23 at the Grand Ballroom of Eko Hotel and Suites.
Organisers say the event will gather fashion designers, beauty entrepreneurs, aspiring contestants and industry stakeholders. It will also feature the Young Designer of the Year competition, which is aimed at supporting and promoting emerging talents within the Nigerian fashion space.
The organisers believe the fair will serve as a platform where aspiring contestants and creative professionals can connect, showcase their talent and explore opportunities within the fashion and beauty industries.
For many young women across the country, the Miss Nigeria pageant remains a prestigious platform that celebrates intelligence, culture and leadership, while opening doors to national and international opportunities.
