Pop icon Rihanna faced a frightening security incident over the weekend after gunfire was reported near her residence in the upscale Beverly Hills area of Los Angeles, United States.
According to reports from U.S. media outlets, the incident occurred shortly after 1 p.m. on Sunday. Authorities say a woman allegedly fired several rounds from a vehicle parked across the street from the singer’s luxury property.
Investigators revealed that approximately ten shots were discharged during the incident. One of the bullets reportedly struck the mansion and penetrated part of a wall, raising concerns about the safety of those inside the property.
At the time the shooting occurred, Rihanna was believed to be at home with her partner, rapper A$AP Rocky, as well as their children.
Law enforcement officers quickly arrived at the scene after receiving reports of gunfire in the neighbourhood. Following a search of the surrounding area, police located and arrested a female suspect believed to be in her thirties not far from the property.
Authorities confirmed that a firearm suspected to have been used in the incident was recovered during the arrest.
Officials have not yet disclosed a possible motive for the shooting, and investigators are still working to determine why the suspect allegedly targeted the area near the singer’s home.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported in connection with the incident. Police say the investigation remains ongoing as they continue to gather evidence and question the suspect.
