The Nigerian Police Force has indicated its readiness to investigate the troubling circumstances surrounding social media influencer King Mitchy, following the emergence of two separate live videos in which she was seen attempting to ingest dangerous substances.
The alarming incidents were brought to the attention of law enforcement by Muyiwa Adejobi, the former spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force. In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), Adejobi tagged the current police spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, alongside the official handle of the Nigeria Police Force, while attaching footage from the latest episode. His action has since prompted widespread public concern and calls for urgent intervention.
King Mitchy’s recent distress has marked a dramatic and unsettling twist in a highly publicised online feud that has dominated social media conversations for weeks. The influencer has been locked in a heated back-and-forth with controversial social commentator VeryDarkMan (VDM), with both parties trading accusations and verbal attacks.
The online conflict reportedly stemmed from disagreements over the credibility of their individual philanthropic efforts, particularly surrounding school renovation projects. What began as a war of words gradually escalated into a deeply personal and emotionally charged confrontation, drawing massive attention from followers and critics alike.
The situation took a frightening turn during a TikTok live broadcast, when Mitchy, visibly emotional, was seen consuming a substance believed to be “hypo,” a household bleach product. As she wept on camera, alarmed viewers flooded the comment section with pleas for her to stop, while others attempted to alert authorities and loved ones.
Shortly after the broadcast, her management team released a statement claiming that she had died as a result of ingesting the chemical substance. The announcement triggered shock and an outpouring of grief across social media platforms, with fans, celebrities, and fellow influencers expressing heartbreak and offering condolences.
However, hours later, the management reversed the statement, clarifying that Mitchy was still alive and receiving medical attention. They admitted that earlier reports of her death were inaccurate, apologising for the confusion and panic caused by the premature announcement.
Just as public anxiety appeared to subside, another disturbing video surfaced online. In the new clip, a visibly distressed Mitchy was seen allegedly ingesting “sniper,” a highly toxic insecticide commonly associated with fatal poisoning cases in Nigeria. The video once again ignited widespread fear, outrage, and concern, with many demanding urgent intervention from authorities to prevent a possible tragedy.
Reacting to the development, Adejobi publicly flagged the matter to the police leadership, urging immediate attention. His action was widely applauded by social media users, who stressed the need for professional medical, psychological, and legal intervention to safeguard the influencer’s life.
The unfolding crisis has reignited conversations around mental health, cyberbullying, and the dangerous consequences of online harassment.
