Nigerian socialite Papaya Ex has appealed to the public for help after losing her phone at a recent movie premiere.
Taking to her Instagram page, the influencer revealed that her personal assistant misplaced her device during Arinzo’s movie premiere held on Sunday. She disclosed that the missing device is an iPhone 16 Pro Max, gold in colour and protected with a pink case.
Expressing distress over the situation, Papaya Ex announced a cash reward of N700,000 for anyone who can help recover the phone or provide useful information about its whereabouts.
“I have a 700k reward for anyone who finds/sees or provides her phone—got misplaced at Arinzo’s premiere, 29th March.
My heart is shattered; it’s such an unfortunate situation. I haven’t seen my phone.
Please help!
Repost! Please! My work, my everything,” she wrote.
The socialite also pleaded with whoever might have found the phone not to tamper with it, stressing the importance of the data stored on the device.
“Please don’t wipe my phone.
I use Almighty to beg you. iPhone 16 Pro Max, Gold colour. Pink case
God, please help me.
Oh damn,” she added.
Providing further details about how the incident happened, she explained that her assistant got distracted during the event, which led to the phone being misplaced.
“I have never misplaced a phone at an event before; my p.a just messed me up.
She got carried away at Arinzo’s premiere on the 29th of March, around 11pm – 12am. Please, if you’re with it, show me video evidence with a fake page. Please don’t be scared. I swear on the Kaaba, I’ll give you 700k,” she stated.
Her appeal has since gained traction online, with fans and followers resharing her post in hopes of helping her recover the device.
Papaya Ex’s experience is not an isolated case, as several celebrities have reported similar incidents at high-profile events. In 2024, actress Georgina Ibeh lamented after losing her Samsung fold phone at a movie premiere hosted by Toyin Abraham. She admitted that the loss dampened her mood, even though she still went ahead to promote the film.
Similarly, at another premiere organised by Iyabo Ojo, actress Mercy Aigbe lost two phones that had been entrusted to her assistant. During the event, Iyabo Ojo publicly appealed for their return and even offered a financial reward to anyone who could help retrieve them.
To cushion the loss, Mercy Aigbe later emerged as the Best Dressed Female at the event, receiving a cash prize of N500,000.
Actress Angela Okorie also shared her frustration after losing her Samsung phone at an event, condemning the act and describing it as wicked. She revealed that she had cursed whoever took the phone, noting that she would have willingly given the person money if they had asked.
In another instance, talent manager Soso Soberekon offered a substantial reward after losing his phone at the wedding of Israel DMW. He promised to give at least half a million naira to anyone who could help recover it.
As Papaya Ex continues her search, her case once again highlights the recurring issue of missing valuables at crowded entertainment events, where distractions and large gatherings can make personal belongings vulnerable.
