Nollywood actress Sarah Martins has opened up about a difficult encounter with social media influencer King Mitchy, sharing the story of how a previously supportive connection turned sour.
In a detailed post on her Instagram page, Sarah explained her surprise when Mitchy blocked her on all platforms after Seyi Tinubu and his friends provided philanthropic support to her NGO during the Kai incident .
“Yes, King Mitchy blocked me everywhere immediately. Seyi Tinubu and friends extended their philanthropic support to my NGO during the Kai incident.
I was shocked because she followed me on IG a few weeks before that incident and applauded my efforts in my comment section. I followed her back and also commended her for the good things she was doing,” she wrote.
The actress recounted how the situation escalated after an accident while cooking for charity, when hot oil spilled on her hands. Despite receiving N20 million from Tinubu and friends to continue her charitable work, Mitchy’s response was to block her.
“Fast forward to when Kai operatives spilt hot oil on my hands right where I was cooking for charity, Seyi Tinubu and friends empowered me with 20m to get a conducive place to continue my cooking for the less privileged, just like he would have done for anyone else, and immediately Mitchy blocked me everywhere till today.
I’m not the type to hold grudges, so I made excuses for that unruly act of hers and let it slide.”
Sarah also described a tense encounter at Toyin Abraham’s movie premiere:
“During @toyin_abraham’s over-sabi aunty movie premiere, I met Mitchy at the event and said hello to her. She looked me from head to toe, eyed me, and walked away. I felt extremely embarrassed, but I kept my cool and still made excuses for her behaviour in order for me not to have reasons to hate her back.”
Despite these incidents, Sarah emphasized that she does not view Mitchy as a competitor:
“Today I see people saying I’m desperate to take over from Mitchy how? My niche is different from hers. I believe in collaboration over competition, which is why I never took any of her unruly behaviour to heart. Mitchy has hurt Nigerians in recent times with her behaviour, but it’s not enough reason to write her off. Pls let’s not forget all the many smiles she brought to our faces through her philanthropic works.”
Concluding her post, she urged forgiveness and understanding, highlighting mental health concerns:
“To err is human and to forgive is divine. I’ve forgiven her, and I’m pleading with all Nigerians, including @verydarkblackman and @jojooflele, to forgive and let go.
Depression is a very destructive thing, and she’s not only mentally down at the moment but also emotionally unstable, and these are signs of depression. I’m begging on her behalf, pls cease fire. Person no dey bad finish. Peace and light always.”
Sarah Martins’ post is a heartfelt appeal for understanding and forgiveness. While she recounted moments of hurt and embarrassment caused by King Mitchy’s actions, she emphasized empathy over resentment, highlighting the destructive effects of depression and the importance of compassion. By forgiving Mitchy herself, Sarah is urging Nigerians to look beyond mistakes, support one another, and embrace the values of patience, forgiveness, and peace.
