Clergyman Kingsley Okonkwo has sparked conversation with a statement suggesting that many single men struggle financially because they have not married. The pastor, speaking recently at his church, argued that marriage can be a catalyst for personal and financial growth.

According to Pastor Okonkwo, many men over 28 mistakenly believe that their lack of money is the reason they remain unmarried. He challenges this notion, asserting the opposite: “It is because you are not married that is why you do not have money.”

He explained that statistically, married men earn more than their single counterparts, largely because marriage creates obligations and responsibilities that drive them to improve their financial standing.

He elaborated that single men can often get by with minimal effort, living on simple meals and relying on others for support. Married men, on the other hand, have to provide for their families, maintain households, and secure the future of their children.

This responsibility, he says, motivates married men to push harder, seek better opportunities, and maximize their resources.

Pastor Okonkwo also emphasized that financial readiness is not the primary requirement for marriage. Rather, there are three essential elements young men should prioritize: bearing burdens early in life, developing a strong relationship with God, and marrying the wife of their youth.

He cautioned that delaying marriage until after 40 can complicate both personal and professional growth. By marrying early, men have the chance to grow alongside their spouses and children, and to pass down values and resources more effectively.

He further explained that youth is a crucial period for building career foundations and gaining life experience.

When men marry while young, they learn to balance responsibilities, and their drive to succeed is amplified. Waiting too long, he warned, can limit one’s ability to start new ventures and achieve long-term stability.

The pastor’s remarks have stirred mixed reactions online. Some have praised his perspective, saying it highlights the link between responsibility, motivation, and success.

Others argue that financial capability and personal choice should not be underestimated, and that marriage is not the sole path to prosperity.

Nonetheless, Pastor Okonkwo’s message underscores a common principle in his teachings: early responsibility, strong faith, and family commitment contribute to personal growth. He encourages young men to act decisively in life, suggesting that marriage is not just a social expectation but a catalyst for self-development.
