Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has taken a firm stance against her colleague Baba Ijesha, issuing a cease-and-desist warning following remarks he made during a recent interview.

The controversy stems from an interview Baba Ijesha granted while addressing the sexual assault allegations previously made against him by comedienne Princess. During the conversation, the actor expressed disappointment over how Iyabo Ojo handled the situation, claiming he had once been supportive of her family, including caring for her children when they were younger.

Reacting via her Instagram story, Iyabo Ojo strongly rejected his claims and warned him against involving her children in his narrative. She clarified that her children were never left unattended and were always under proper supervision.

“Setting the record straight.

I honestly have no problem with you, Baba Ijesha, telling your side of the story, but take this as a notice to CEASE AND DESIST from using my children as your cheap bait. It won’t fly. My kids have always had nannies or my late mum with them, and they were never alone. At my former business place in Ilupeju, I had multiple staff, including stylists, sales reps and apprentices, so it’s unlikely I’d be the one running errands. I can send a worker if needed,” she wrote.

The actress maintained that while she does not oppose him sharing his perspective, she would not tolerate what she described as misleading statements involving her family.

“I’m okay with you sharing your story, but don’t mislead the public with false claims about my kids. You were a senior colleague no more; however, that 14-year-old girl was a minor, and s*xual assault is never okay. It is a crime. You should show some remorse. The court found you guilty based on evidence, so please don’t drag my kids into this. Stop mentioning their names, else I would direct my counsel to serve you appropriate papers”.

Her response has reignited public attention around the long-standing case, which dates back to 2021 when Princess accused Baba Ijesha of assaulting her 14-year-old ward. The allegation sparked widespread outrage and divided opinions within the Nollywood industry.

At the time, Iyabo Ojo publicly supported Princess, advocating for justice, while actor Yomi Fabiyi stood in defence of Baba Ijesha. The disagreement between both actors played out openly on social media, further intensifying the debate.

In 2022, Baba Ijesha was convicted and sentenced to five years in prison for the offence. However, in November 2024, news of his release surfaced after serving over three years in custody. Yomi Fabiyi announced the development on Instagram, expressing joy over the outcome and stating that the actor had been cleared by the Appeal Court.

Following his release, Baba Ijesha shared a brief message of appreciation, thanking a supporter—believed to be Fabiyi—for standing by him during his ordeal. He also hinted at moving forward with his life after leaving prison.

Despite his return, the actor’s recent comments have stirred fresh controversy, particularly with Iyabo Ojo’s strong reaction. Her latest statement underscores her determination to protect her children from being dragged into public discourse surrounding the case.

The situation highlights ongoing tensions within Nollywood, as past events continue to shape relationships and public perception. As it stands, Iyabo Ojo has made it clear that any further mention of her children could lead to legal action.

With emotions still high and opinions divided, the fallout from the case remains a sensitive topic in the Nigerian entertainment industry.
