Nollywood actress Caroline Danjuma has spoken candidly about the stigma often attached to divorced women, using the moment of International Women’s Day to highlight the challenges many single mothers face in society.
In a heartfelt message, the actress reflected on how divorced women are frequently judged or made to feel responsible for the breakdown of their marriages.
According to her, society tends to place unnecessary pressure on women who have gone through divorce, often portraying them as the problem.
“The world often makes divorced women feel like they are the problem… like they should carry the weight of it all. Constantly stigmatised unnecessarily,” she said.
The mother of three also recalled a particular piece of advice she once received that left a lasting impression on her.
Someone had suggested that she stop posting pictures of her children online because it might discourage a potential partner.
“Someone once told me, ‘Don’t post your children. The right man may run away.’ Let the little boy RUN. I am good,” she said firmly.
Caroline made it clear that motherhood remains one of the most important parts of her life.
She proudly revealed that she is raising three children aged 18, 17, and 11, emphasizing that she would never hide them or treat them as a burden for the sake of attracting a partner.
“I am proudly the mother of three incredible children: 18, 17, and 11 years old, respectively. I will never hide or trade this divine gift of love from God for anyone,” she said.
The actress also acknowledged the role of her children’s father in their upbringing, expressing appreciation for his involvement in their lives.
“My children are deeply loved and exceptionally cared for by their father in EVERY WAY, and for that I remain grateful,” she added.
Reflecting on her journey, Caroline explained that motherhood has played a major role in shaping the person she has become.
She noted that raising her children has taught her important life lessons about resilience, forgiveness, strength, and unconditional love.
“Motherhood shaped me into the woman I am today. It taught me love beyond understanding, resilience without losing myself, forgiveness, strength, and grace.”
For the actress, being a mother remains one of the greatest honours of her life. As she marked International Women’s Day, she celebrated not just womanhood but also the privilege of guiding her children through life.
“Being called a mother is one of the greatest honours of my life,” she said. “God trusted me to shepherd three beautiful souls through life. I am blessed beyond words.”
Caroline concluded her message by reminding women everywhere that motherhood should never be viewed as a limitation.
“Motherhood is not my limitation; it is my greatest legacy… Happy International Women’s Day to every woman out there. We are conquerors.”
