Nigerian comedian I Go Save has ignited a conversation on social media about a problem that many Nigerians face daily:
the rapid depletion of internet data. In a video that has gone viral, he openly criticized internet service providers for what he described as unfair practices, accusing them of selling data plans that vanish much faster than advertised.
“They just talk say I have subscribed for one month, e no even reach how many hours, they thing don finish. I download house? Nobody is even saying anything. Internet providers are defr@uding Nigerians badly. How person wey no too get take dey cope?” he said, noting the financial and practical struggles this creates for ordinary users.
I Go Save’s remarks resonated widely because he went beyond everyday frustrations, suggesting that even the wealthiest Nigerians are not immune.
“With the way wey this internet providers dey do, I dey sure say even Dangote go dey off him data.
Tinubu, is that you no dey use data? Your own no dey quick finish? Abroad if they say you have subscribed for one month, one month na one month. Nigeria own dey stay two days. Which kind wayo be all this?”
His words reflect a growing public sentiment that telecom providers are failing to deliver reliable service, leaving consumers feeling shortchanged.
By comparing the Nigerian experience with that abroad, he emphasized the stark differences in service standards, framing it as a matter of fairness and accountability.
The comedian also called on the government, urging President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene. “Una wan kpai us? Tinubu make Una leave rice first and face this data. Nigerians are suffering,” he said, emphasizing the urgent need for regulatory oversight to protect consumers.
Since the release of the video, many Nigerians have taken to social media to share similar experiences, highlighting the frustration and financial burden caused by rapidly exhausting data plans.
