Nigerian content creator and skitmaker, Caterefe, has recounted the harrowing story of how his father, a police officer, was tragically killed by armed robbers disguised in military attire during a highway robbery in Ogun State.

Sharing the emotional experience on a recent episode of The Honest Bunch Podcast, Caterefe detailed how his father, returning home after completing his duty, opted to take a police van to the nearest bus stop close to their residence.

“My dad had closed from duty and was heading home but he decided to enter the police van to the nearest bus-stop to our house, we were staying at Ogun State then,” he said.

According to Caterefe, the police van ran into a traffic jam caused by a robbery in progress. Unaware that the men in military camouflage were criminals, his father and his colleagues stepped out of the vehicle to assess the situation—only to be met with gunfire.

“However, they ran into a gridlock and some men in military camouflage were robbing. My dad and his colleagues alighted from the van to check what was going on but immediately the robbers spotted them in police uniform, they opened fire on them. My dad is on YouTube, I saw my dad’s lifeless body on the ground with police uniform,” he recalled, his voice heavy with emotion.

Reflecting on the tragedy, Caterefe emphasized that the loss, though devastating, has not broken his spirit or his determination to succeed in life and content creation.

“I am no stranger to pain. I have gone through a lot of pains. So, there is no pain that will make me stop my grind,” he affirmed.

The skitmaker’s story not only highlights the personal toll of violent crime on families but also underscores his resilience and commitment to pursuing his dreams despite enduring unimaginable loss.

Through sharing his experience, Caterefe hopes to shed light on the dangers faced by law enforcement personnel and the lasting impact such violence has on their families.
