Veteran Nollywood actor Chiwetalu Agu has sparked widespread conversation online following a heartfelt message about youth and ageing that has gone viral across social media platforms.

In a video widely shared on Instagram and Twitter, Agu addressed young people directly, urging them to live life fully while also preparing wisely for the inevitable challenges that come with old age.

Reflecting on the realities of ageing, Agu candidly warned that old age comes with a variety of health and life challenges. “Enjoy yourself now that you are young.

Old age is full of challenges. Old age comes with one problem or another. If it is not diabetes, it is high blood pressure. If it is not a heart problem, it may be kidney or liver issues.

If it is not stroke, then it is problems with the brain and many others,” he said. His message struck a chord as it highlighted the often-overlooked difficulties of ageing that many young people take for granted.

Agu also emphasized the urgency of making the most of the present. “Time waits for no one. Live your life to the fullest, where you have the opportunity. Old age is not child’s play,” he added.

Drawing from scripture, he referenced Ecclesiastes 3:1, saying, “To everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under heaven,” using it to underscore the need to balance enjoyment with foresight.

While encouraging youth to enjoy themselves, Agu stressed the importance of planning for the future. He noted, “There is time for everything. Enjoy your youth while you can.

You never can tell what lies ahead. But while enjoying your youth, make sure you are preparing for old age. It is not easy at all.

However, it can be easier for those who prepare for it. As you make your bed, so you will lie on it.” He further quoted Ecclesiastes 3:2: “A time to plant and a time to pluck,” reminding young people that the actions they take now determine the quality of life they will have later. “You will not pluck what you did not plant. You will not reap where you did not sow,” Agu said.

Financial discipline and strong family ties were also central to Agu’s advice. He highlighted that a comfortable old age is often built on wise financial choices and maintaining close relationships with loved ones. “Old age is best enjoyed when you prepare for it.

Hold God tight. Treat your family right and make plenty money. Your bills will not pay themselves. Invest now while you can,” he advised.

He stressed that future expenses in old age will often outweigh current leisure spending, urging young people to think beyond temporary pleasures.

Concluding his message, Agu reminded young people that preparation is key to a peaceful and fulfilling old age. “Old age is a journey, and only those who are prepared reach their destination peacefully.

Make hay while the sun shines. Let those who have ears hear,” he said. He ended with a heartfelt prayer: “I pray we all get there in good health and wealth. In Jesus name, Amen.”

The video has resonated with many Nigerians, as it combines practical life advice with reflections on spirituality and responsibility.

Agu’s candid reflections serve as both a warning and a guide, encouraging young people to enjoy their youth while making informed choices that will ensure comfort, security, and health in the years to come.

His message underscores the universal truth that while youth is fleeting, the consequences of today’s decisions often define the quality of tomorrow’s life.
