Nigerian content creator Maraji shared a deeply emotional account in a recent video, recounting stories of sexual violence and insecurity in Delta State that have left her shaken and reflective.

She broke down in tears as she described how these experiences, both personal and observed, reveal systemic challenges in ensuring safety and justice.

Maraji began by recounting a story she came across online, saying,

“I came across a video that really broke me.

 A woman recounted that 10 years ago, while walking with her friend in Delta State, she was r%ped. Shockingly, her friend told her that this was a ‘normal thing’ in Delta State.”

She also addressed disturbing clips that have circulated about a local festival in Ozoro, stating;

“I also saw clips yesterday about the Ozoro r%pe festival in Delta, and it hurt me deeply because I know that real justice will likely never prevail there.

 As much as I know that jungle justice is terrible, the lawlessness in Nigeria makes it almost impossible for r%pers and other criminals to face the true justice they deserve.”

Reflecting on her personal experiences, Maraji shared how insecurity has affected her directly:

“I remembered when I was robbed. I was shaking as I tried to call the police. The way people at the scene looked at me and the driver as if to say, ‘Why call the police instead of just going home?’ showed me how sick the system is in this country.

 Nigeria is always in the news for the wrong reasons.”

She concluded by speaking about the difference life has made since relocating to Ghana with her husband, emphasizing;

 “I also remember when my husband and I were dating, I told him that I wanted us to move to Ghana.

Ever since we relocated, the difference has been palpable. There is never the kind of chaos or insecurity we experienced in Nigeria. Life here in Ghana has been peaceful and serene, without constant bad news.”

Maraji’s account underscores the deep challenges faced by women and communities in parts of Nigeria, while also showing how living in a safer environment can transform daily life.

Her story is a call for attention to systemic reforms and the importance of ensuring that everyone can feel safe and protected.
