Afrobeats star Davido has reacted strongly to a disturbing video showing a violent bullying incident involving students at Igbinedion Secondary School in Edo State.
The video, which circulated widely on social media, captured two male students physically attacking a fellow student who was lying helplessly on the ground. The footage triggered widespread anger online, drawing attention from both authorities and public figures.
Responding to the clip on X on Sunday, Davido expressed his outrage over the violent behaviour displayed in the video.
“F***ing Animals… so disgusting,” the singer wrote while reacting to the incident.
The video shows one of the attackers dragging the victim by his school uniform before repeatedly stomping on his chest while the student cried out in pain. In the background, another student who was filming the incident could be heard pleading with the attackers to stop.
The disturbing footage quickly went viral, prompting swift intervention from the school management and law enforcement authorities.
In response to the incident, the Edo State Police Command confirmed that disciplinary measures had already been taken against the students involved.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Eno Ikioedem, the two students who carried out the assault have been expelled from the school, while the student who recorded the video has been suspended.
The police also revealed that the state Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika, has ordered a thorough investigation into the matter.
As part of the directive, the Divisional Police Officer responsible for the area has been instructed to carry out a detailed inquiry to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
“The Edo State Police Command totally condemns acts of bullying, violence, or intimidation among students, and anyone found culpable will be dealt with in accordance with the law,” the police statement said.
Authorities emphasised that bullying and other forms of violence among students would not be tolerated, adding that individuals found responsible would face appropriate legal consequences.
The police also assured the public that the investigation is ongoing and that those involved will be held accountable in line with the law, while also considering their ages.
The incident has sparked renewed discussions on student safety, discipline, and the growing concern over bullying in schools.
Many Nigerians who reacted online called for stronger measures to protect students from violence and urged schools to implement stricter policies against bullying.
Davido’s reaction further amplified the conversation, drawing more attention to the issue and highlighting the role public figures can play in raising awareness about social concerns affecting young people.
As investigations continue, authorities have reiterated their commitment to ensuring justice and preventing similar incidents from occurring in schools across the state.
