“I’m literally becoming a woman, and it’s like you can hear that in my music now, like I’m growing sonically and I want to try different things, like just put myself out there, and have fun while doing it,” she said.

The singer admitted that at some point, she began to overanalyze her craft, which affected the spontaneity that once defined her music. Reflecting on that period, she noted that she had momentarily lost sight of the carefree energy that initially drove her passion.

“I kind of lost the plot a bit, and I took it a bit too seriously, and it was never that deep,” she added.

Now, Ayra Starr says she has intentionally shifted her mindset, choosing to focus more on enjoyment and creative expression rather than pressure or expectations. This renewed perspective, she explained, has helped her reconnect with the essence of her artistry.

“I brought the fun back, and we’re enjoying ourselves,” she said, hinting at a more vibrant and experimental sound on the new project.
