Nollywood actress Angela Eguavoen and several social media users have reacted to a viral video showing fellow actress and politician Tonto Dikeh conducting a deliverance session during a school outreach.
The clip, which has been widely circulated online, captured Dikeh praying for a student while performing what she described as a spiritual deliverance. The actress had explained during the outreach that her mission was inspired by her personal testimony, saying God rescued her from the “Marine world” so she could help others experience spiritual freedom.
The footage quickly sparked debate across social media platforms, with many viewers sharing mixed reactions about the public prayer session involving a student.
Among those who reacted was Angela Eguavoen, who commented on the situation in a blog’s comment section with a brief but curious remark.
“Hmmmm,” she wrote.
Other social media users also joined the conversation, leaving a range of reactions that reflected confusion, humour, and concern over the incident.
One user identified as baggznjeans wrote, “No go blind the pøor girl.”
Another commenter, jody_posy, joked about the video, writing, “Abeg, I no wan laugh.”
Similarly, shop_kandyaccessories appeared amused by the situation, saying, “Okay. This is now getting funny.”
Some viewers suggested the moment looked theatrical. A user named kagetheactor commented, “This country na comedy I swear.”
Another commenter, kay_formless, expressed discomfort about the video, writing, “This triggers me so badly.”
User wayne_kobi also raised concerns about the safety of the student, saying, “Make una no kpai person pikin o.”
Meanwhile, another reaction from gbolahan701 seemed more sarcastic, stating, “Practice means perfect. She’s gradually getting there.”
A user known as lux_units compared the scene to a film, writing, “E dey look like Yoruba movie.”
The viral video comes at a time when Dikeh has been openly sharing details about her growing commitment to Christianity and spiritual work.
Just days ago, the actress revealed that she had decided to stop using the title “King” in her name after eight years. According to her, the decision was made in obedience to divine instruction.
She asked the public to now address her as Evangelist Tonto Dikeh, explaining that the change was guided by what she described as the leading of the Holy Spirit.
In addition to her outreach at schools, Dikeh recently visited the children’s and women’s wards at the National Hospital in Abuja. During the visit, she prayed with patients, laid hands on them, spoke with families, and gave financial support to some of the people she met.
Reflecting on the experience, the actress said the level of pain she encountered in the hospital wards was deeply emotional and difficult to witness.
Since turning 40 last year, Dikeh has increasingly spoken about her spiritual transformation and commitment to a more faith-focused lifestyle, distancing herself from aspects of her previously controversial public image.
Last month, she also announced that she had completed a Discipleship class as part of her Christian journey. Describing the experience, the actress said her walk with God has been both challenging and rewarding.
According to her, the journey has been “the most healing, stretching, overwhelming, and beautiful experience” of her life, adding that her faith has strengthened her belief in God.
Late last year, Dikeh also shared personal testimony about overcoming several struggles. She revealed that she started smoking at the age of 13, influenced by her father, and continued the habit for 27 years before eventually breaking free from the addiction.
The actress also disclosed that she battled alcoholism and struggled with masturbation before experiencing what she described as spiritual healing.
Despite the mixed reactions to her latest outreach video, Dikeh continues to speak openly about her faith and her mission to help others through spiritual guidance and charitable work.
