Nollywood actress Juliana Olayode, famously known as Toyo Baby from Jenifa’s Diary, has once again addressed her decision not to participate in on-screen kissing scenes. Speaking candidly in a video shared with her fans, Olayode clarified that her choice is guided by personal faith and conviction, not pride or judgment toward her colleagues.
She opened up about the rumours surrounding her career, saying;
“It is true that I wouldn’t kiss in movies.” The actress also reflected on the emotional toll of misinformation, stating, “It’s okay if you don’t like me. It’s okay if you say I’m not a good actor; it’s okay if you don’t want to work with me. But lying about me is deeply wrong and hurtful.”
Despite her firm boundaries, Olayode emphasized that her career is far from limited. She assured filmmakers of her openness, saying;
“So I want to clear the air. There is absolutely NO producer or director I cannot work with. None. I am open and willing to work with anyone, as long as the story and my role do not go against my consecration to God.”
Her statements underline that her approach to acting is about intentional choices based on personal values rather than exclusion. Olayode expressed that while some producers may have misunderstood her limits, these misunderstandings should not define her professional reputation.
Fans and industry colleagues have had varied reactions, with many praising her honesty and dedication to her beliefs, while others sparked conversations about personal principles in the film industry. Regardless, Juliana Olayode remains steadfast, emphasizing that her decisions “are just my personal consecration” and are not intended to judge others who make different choices.
Through this candid explanation, she continues to highlight the importance of respecting personal convictions in entertainment while maintaining a professional and collaborative spirit.
