Actress and filmmaker Bolaji Ogunmola has openly expressed her frustration with toxic online commentary, suggesting that she may take a break from social media to concentrate fully on her craft.

The filmmaker reacted strongly after a social media user criticised her on-screen chemistry with her co-star, Daniel, in her recent movie The Bloom After. The commenter claimed that their frequent romantic scenes, particularly kissing, were excessive and could potentially lead to a real-life relationship.

The user, identified by the handle “I hate lies,” questioned why Ogunmola did not share similar intimate scenes with another co-star, Anthony, in the film. They also drew a comparison with the controversial relationship between actors Yul Edochie and Judy Austin, warning that emotions could develop from repeated on-screen intimacy.

The comment read, “To be honest, you and Daniel kissing movies is too much, and it’s looking like you guys are an item. Why didn’t you kiss the 1st guy, Anthony, in your new movie? Remember that was how Yul and Judy started. Feelings can develop. You guys should tune it down.”

In a strongly worded response, Ogunmola slammed the remark, describing it as ignorant and disrespectful. She emphasized that her interactions with colleagues are strictly professional and do not extend beyond work.

“You are an absolute retard!! You watched to tweet stupidity, and it shows. What is the entire film about, you nitwit!! You want to reduce my entire work to kissing. You are an absolute fool, and all of you are thinking like that,” she wrote.

The actress further dismissed suggestions of a romantic connection with her co-star, stressing that they do not communicate outside professional settings.

“What foolish item? We don’t even talk outside of work! You think because you lack boundaries and have no respect for yourself, everyone acts and carries themselves like that, you absolute fool,” she added.

Ogunmola went on to criticize what she described as a lack of professionalism and moral boundaries among some social media users, noting that many people project their own behaviours and values onto others.

“I don’t care what happened to any other actor. Some of us have plenty of dignity and self-respect. Your opinion about things is a direct representation of who you are and what you stand for,” she stated.

She also highlighted that The Bloom After is more than just a romantic film, urging viewers to focus on its deeper message rather than isolated scenes.

“The Bloom After isn’t just another romance film. It’s about a woman finding herself after giving everything to a cause she believed in. We know an Inara; there’s an Inara on our street, in your office. Please share the film with them and remind them they are worthy,” she explained.

The heated exchange has sparked conversations online about the pressures actors face, the boundaries between on-screen roles and personal lives, and the impact of toxic commentary on creatives.

Ogunmola’s remarks suggest growing frustration with social media culture, and she hinted that stepping back from online platforms may help her protect her peace and focus on her work.

Fans and colleagues have since rallied around the actress, praising her for standing her ground and calling for more respect and sensitivity in online discussions.
